About the work

Matthew Barney’s edition for the Whitechapel Gallery relates to his recent film River of Fundament (2014). The film transports the myth-laden narrative of Norman Mailer’s novel Ancient Evenings (1983) – itself based on the Egyptian Book of the Dead – into a contemporary American setting.  The project encompasses numerous related artworks including, drawings, sculpture  and performance.

In the film, the recurring motif of a graduated ascent to power is articulated in the material language of the metals and minerals that take form in sculpture. Base elements — zinc, sulfur, iron, copper — give way to yellow metal alloys — bronze and brass — that emulate, but fail to reproduce, the quality of gold. Barney's edition is printed with graphite ink, a base element that appears throughout the film and it's related artworks

Hidden within the intricate lines of this exquisite print are the outlines of the American Bison, the last of the three animal protagonists in River of Fundament. The work’s title, Investment, describes the stage in the sculptural casting process where the pattern is submerged into the mold material, before being displaced by the casting medium. This print, like Barney’s sculptures from the film, translates motifs from River of Fundament into autonomous works of art, bearing witness to these set-piece performances while recasting their themes of decay, regeneration and alchemical metamorphosis.

Exactly what you'd expect from CK.
The CK liquid cotton material is extremely comfortable. They're the most comfortable polo shirt that I've ever worn.

One fit just fine, and the other was too small
I purchased two of these shirts in the same size but different colors. One fit just fine, and the other was too small. Go figure. I guess I received a mislabeled shirt so I returned it. Otherwise, the shirt is super soft and very comfortable.

True as advertised
Size: X-Large, Color: Wine Red-2, Size: X-Large, Color: Wine Red-2
Great fit, true to size. I am 6'2" 217 lbs and bought the XL. The color is just as expected and the cut feels and looks tailored. This suit looks like aand feels expensive while being extremely budget friendly.

5’-11”, 185 lbs, Size- Large
5”-11”, 185 lbs, size Large. Suit jacket fits good and has some weight to it. My chest is a little bigger proportionally for my size but if I go with a size up, the jacket would be too big. Vest fits good but appears to be XL though it is labeled L. Not a big deal. Pants are also a good fit. Waistband is not too tight or too loose around my waist. Pant length is a little long but still a good fit. I normally wear 34x34 pants.
