A marvelous document of the Gilded Age. The author was the self-appointed arbiter of New York Society from the 1860's to the early 1890's. He coined the phrase "the Four Hundred." According to McAllister, this was the number of people in New York who really mattered; the people who felt at ease in the ballrooms of high society. The number was popularly supposed to be the capacity of Mrs. William Backhouse Astor's ballroom. Although purported to be an index of New York's best families, McAllister's list was suspiciously top-heavy with nouveau riche industrialists, and McAllister's southern allies. He was largely responsible for turning the simple seaside resort of Newport, Rhode Island for the pleasure-seeking, status-conscious rich of the Gilded Age.

Definitely Recommend
Format: Paperback
This book is very helpful and I definitely recommend it as a resource. It simplifies complex concepts and is organized by body system. It highlights the major health conditions in each body system and provides a simple and concise explanation. At the end of every concept a mini quiz is offered to test comprehension. I’ve found this book very useful during the semester and I’m sure I’ll find it helpful for boards.

I worked through this book and used the on-line accompaniment prior to testing for my NP license. I passed, so I’d say it was effective!

It's good but Leik is better
Format: Paperback
This is a fairly good review book for the FNP exam and I've had professors recommend it's use. However, the review book by Leik is better in that it delivers information in a short-and-sweet way that still covers the most crucial information. Fitzgerald requires a little more reading and unfortunately I just don't have the attention span for that anymore. I need short paragraphs, bullet points, and the most crucial information that will give me success for the FNP exam and Leik provides that a little more than this.
