In Iron Will: Cleveland-Cliffs and the Mining of Iron Ore, 1847--2006, Terry S. Reynolds and Virginia P. Dawson tell the story of Cleveland-Cliffs, the only surviving independent American iron mining company, now known as Cliffs Natural Resources. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Cleveland-Cliffs played a major role in the opening and development of the Lake Superior mining district and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Through Cleveland-Cliffs' history, Reynolds and Dawson examine major transitions in the history of the American iron and steel industry from the perspective of an important raw materials supplier.

Reynolds and Dawson trace Cleveland-Cliffs' beginnings around 1850, its growth under Samuel L. Mather and his son William G. Mather, its emergence as an important player in the growing national iron ore market, and its tribulations during the Great Depression. The authors explore the company's fortunes after World War II, when Cleveland-Cliffs developed technologies to tap into vast reserves of low-grade Michigan iron ore and turned to joint ventures and strategic partnerships to raise the capital needed to implement them. The authors also explain how the company became the largest independent producer of iron ore in the United States by purchasing the mining interests of its bankrupt partners during the implosion of the American steel industry in the late-twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Reynolds and Dawson detail Cleveland-Cliffs' evolving efforts to deal with labor, from its early mostly immigrant workforce to its ambitious program of welfare capitalism in the early twentieth century to its struggles with organized labor after World War II.

Iron Will is a thorough, well-organized history based on extensive archival research and interviews with company personnel. This story will appeal to scholars interested in industrial or mining history, business historians, and those interested in Great Lakes and Michigan history.

Quality product for fair price
Color: Leather - Brown
Good quality, light, material felt good. Quite a few card slots. The magnet is not super strong so you can’t carry a lot of cash, but it is good enough to make it feel secure.

Lightweight and durable
Color: Grey
My husband loves this wallet because it's super lightweight but durable. He doesn't like the bulkiness of most leather wallets so this was the perfect fit. The topographical pattern is unique

Super cute!
Color: Multi
This is advertised for men, but I bought it for myself and absolutely love it! It’s very cute, lightweight and slim to just slip in your pocket for a quick run in instead of bringing your whole billfold. Good quality and cute design! Fits 2 cards on each side and has pocket in the middle for cash.

Card holder yes, 'wallet' not so much, and it has a 'weathered' look as shown in their pictures.
Color: Multi
This little card holder feels pretty tough, and the card slots are tight. I could fit 5 cards into it--4 in the outside slots and 1 in the pocket in the middle. I was hoping that I could use it as a wallet and not just a card holder, but the pocket in the middle is very tight just like the other 4 slots on the outside, and you CAN stuff money in there but it's not very convenient to get it out. Thier claim of "...providing efficient organization and easy access to all your essential cards and cash" is a bit of a stretch, because if you have cards in the 4 outer slots the middle pocket becomes very tight, and not convenient or enjoyable to put cash in and harder to get it out. I got the striped multicolor version, and it looks really nice and cool, though they might have described it as 'vintage' or having a 'worn' look, as it sort of seems like it's been weathered or used. You can see this for yourself in the pictures they provide on the product page--there are those little white spots on it, as if it is old and worn. Still looks cool but I thought I would mention it, so you know what you are getting. I gave it only 4 Stars mainly because I was hoping it could be used better as a wallet and not just a card holder, and the middle pocket is a bit too tight for it to function that way in my opinion, but also because of its 'worn' look, as I was expecting it to look more 'brand new' and not so weathered.
