炭鉱から発掘された、名もなき1910 年頃のアメリカのカバーオールをベースに生まれたジャケット。
100 年以上もの時を経て髙橋大雅の手元にやってきたカバーオールジャケットに魅せられて、T.T のカバーオールジャケットは作られた。
1920年代のアメリカで始まった大量生産・大量消費の時代。
職人による一点ずつ丁寧に作る伝統から、手の技が無くとも大量生産が可能なものづくりの体制になってゆく。
経済の下支えをしている重労働者が着るワークウェアがその時代背景を物語り、直線的な縫製、平面的なパターンによる簡易化。
生地の耐久性やポケットの形状など、全て重労働に耐えゆくための設計となっている。
今のデザインと言われる要素が全くと言っていいほど存在せず、特にこのジャケットは衣服というよりも道具に近い。
当時の仕様を継承しつつ素材感を考慮し、脇下の溜まりを改善するため肩傾斜を付け再構築。
素材は、1940 年代のヴィンテージスワッチを研究し、作り上げたオリジナルの撚り杢ウィップコード生地を使用。
綾目が太く畝のように盛り上がっており、その太い畝が乗馬の鞭綱(むちづな、whipcord) のようである事が生地名の由来である。
