The Auris My Little Lyre model LBP is a 7-string pentatonic children’s lyre made in Sweden from solid maple wood for gentle early music-making. Designed especially for young children, this maple lyre offers a clear, pure tone and an open resonating body that invites free, intuitive sound exploration from the very first encounter.

Made by Auris, this lyre is tuned to a pentatonic scale with a pitch range from d’ to e’’, allowing children to explore sound naturally without sharp or discordant notes. The pentatonic tuning encourages listening, improvisation, and musical confidence, making it well suited for early childhood, kindergarten, Waldorf classrooms, and home music circles.

The maple body is sealed with an eco-friendly shellac priming that preserves the warmth of the wood while supporting resonance and durability. Seven carefully selected strings are tuned to d’–e’–g’–a’–b’–d’’–e’’, creating a calm, open, and balanced tonal palette.

Care, tuning, and accessories

The Auris My Little Lyre is tuned using a T-shaped tuning wrench (LSN-T) with a 5 mm square socket. Keeping a dedicated tuning wrench nearby makes seasonal tuning simple and gentle. To help maintain suppleness and tone clarity over time, the strings may be lightly wiped and occasionally conditioned with a small amount of string oil, especially in dry or humid environments.
