The Auris Children’s Pentatonic Lyre – 12 Strings (d-e) is a beautifully balanced lyre crafted for young children who are ready to explore a wider tonal range while remaining within the gentle harmony of the pentatonic scale.

Made from solid maple wood, this lyre features Auris’s characteristic notched base, a thoughtful design element that supports an especially even and balanced tone. Two carefully positioned bridges—crafted from hardwood and brass—help create a smooth harmonic progression between the higher and lower strings, resulting in a sound that is warm, stable, and richly resonant.

Designed for Depth, Balance & Musical Growth

With twelve pentatonically tuned strings, this lyre offers a broader melodic landscape than smaller introductory models while remaining harmonically forgiving. Children can explore longer musical phrases, fuller chords, and deeper resonance without the risk of dissonance.

The body of this pentatonic lyre is the same instrument body used for Auris’s 12-string diatonic lyre, making it a thoughtful choice for families and schools looking ahead. When a child is ready to move beyond pentatonic music, the lyre may be re-strung with a diatonic string set, allowing the instrument to continue supporting musical development into the upper grades.

Please note that diatonic strings are not included with this instrument and must be purchased separately if and when you choose to make this transition. Replacement pentatonic string sets are also available when it is time to refresh or replace the original strings.
