Reproduction of Patterns of the Amazon XIX by Kathrine Lovell
Kathrine Lovell — "Patterns of the Amazon XIX" presents a compelling synthesis of traditional botanical illustration and contemporary minimalist abstraction. The work aligns with the broader tradition of decorative pattern-making, drawing from the rich lineage of ornamental art found in both Eastern and Western design histories, while simultaneously diverging through its stark monochromatic execution and grid-based composition. The artist employs a meticulous line work technique, creating a visual rhythm that guides the eye across the panel in a methodical, almost meditative progression. Compositionally, the piece adheres to a strict geometric grid, yet within each cell, the individual patterns exhibit subtle variations in form and density, creating a dynamic interplay between repetition and difference. This balance reflects a sophisticated understanding of visual equilibrium, where the negative space between the octagonal tiles functions as an active element, enhancing the overall sense of order and clarity. The monochromatic palette, devoid of hue, emphasizes tonal contrast and line quality, allowing the intricate details of each motif to emerge with clarity. This approach resonates with the principles of modernist design, particularly the influence of Bauhaus-inspired abstraction and the minimalist aesthetic that values form and structure over ornamentation. Historically, the work situates itself within a continuum of pattern-based art that includes the intricate tilework of Islamic design and the stylized flora of Art Nouveau, yet it transcends these traditions by focusing on conceptual simplicity and visual harmony. The interpretive significance of "Patterns of the Amazon XIX" lies in its ability to evoke natural complexity through a framework of geometric discipline, offering a quiet but powerful commentary on the relationship between nature and human design. It is a work that invites prolonged observation, rewarding the viewer with new details and patterns upon repeated engagement, thereby asserting its place as a significant contribution to contemporary decorative art.For more art by Kathrine Lovell click here.

SMELLS SO BAD!!!
Balls LOOK great and bounce fine BUT they smell SO TERRIBLE! Like moth balls. I've left them outside to air out for a couple days but if the smell remains I'll have to return. Just can't stand the smell, it's too strong and overwhelming.

Used for my dog.
These balls are great for playing fetch and at a decent price. I have a small dog (15 lbs) and she doesn't tear them up quickly. Unfortunately when we go to the dog park her much bigger friends steal them and destroy them. So buying them in bulk makes it easier to make sure we always have a ball to throw.
