The viewing and taking lenses are a matched pair, typically equipped with a Carl Zeiss Planar 75mm f/3.5 or Schneider Xenotar 75mm f/3.5, both renowned for high contrast, sharpness, and minimal distortion.
The camera integrates a Synchro-Compur leaf shutter with speeds from 1 second to 1/500s plus Bulb, ensuring consistent exposure and flash synchronization at all speeds. The built-in exposure meter, depending on version, employs a Selenium or CdS cell, allowing precise exposure control.
Focusing is achieved through a ground glass screen with a split-image or Fresnel aid, viewed via a waist-level finder featuring a folding hood and magnifier. Film transport uses a crank-advance mechanism with automatic frame spacing and shutter cocking. The camera body is mechanically engineered from metal alloys, ensuring rigidity and alignment accuracy.
