The PainterMartin and Rebecca Banks live in the quiet town of Edisto Island, South Carolina. Since childhood, Martin knew that his calling was painting. The only thing that came second to that was his love for Rebecca. Martin and Rebecca Banks live in the quiet town of Edisto Island, South Carolina. Since childhood, Martin knew that his calling was painting. The only thing that came second to that was his love for Rebecca. After nearly twenty-five years of marriage, Martin is in the middle of painting a portrait of his wife when she is diagnosed with cancer. Quitting painting altogether to take care of her, he closes up the studio, leaving the painting unfinished. When Rebecca succumbs to the cancer soon thereafter, Martin is devastated and doesn't know what to do with his life. Several months later after an obviously emotional ordeal, Martin goes back to the painting, but as he is looking the next day, he seems to notice things changing. Could he have found a way to have Rebecca back in his life or is he going crazy from the grief of losing her?

This book is a game changer in that it takes ...
Format: Paperback
This book is a game changer in that it takes an in-depth look at the lingering and undeniable effects of slavery on the psyche of today's African Americans. It is thought provoking and thorough and a must read for those seeking to understand the why's of what's happening today in the lives of many African Americans and how it correlates to the savagery of slavery.

One of the best, most practical, and well written books on Black Liberation!
Format: Paperback
So good that I am creating a book club for young (teenagers) POC. Very good book that is pro-Black without being anti-Anyone. I love the approach: you can love your race and promote it without also enslaving or attacking others. I am enjoying the read immensely and will be buying other books by the author. It's a really easy read, and arranged in a way that makes it easy to use for lesson planning and discussion.

Wonderful book if you can't get to the museum. Beautiful photographs and interesting details about the building and the history around the completion.
