The Blackmagic Design Camera Lens Cap MFT (often called a Body Cap) is a precision-molded protective cover designed for the Micro Four Thirds (MFT) mount. This is the mount standard found on many of Blackmagic’s most iconic compact cameras.

This cap serves as the primary barrier between the outside world and the camera's internal optics.

Sensor Shielding: It seals the camera body to prevent dust, lint, and moisture from reaching the Micro Four Thirds sensor. Because MFT sensors are smaller and often sit closer to the mount opening than larger formats, keeping them covered is vital to avoid "dust spots" in your 4K footage.

Pin Protection: It protects the gold-plated electronic communication pins at the bottom of the mount. These pins are responsible for iris control, autofocus, and image stabilization on active MFT lenses.

Operational Insight
For users of the Pocket 4K, the MFT mount is "active," meaning it has delicate electronics. If you store your camera in a bag without a lens attached, using a genuine MFT body cap is non-negotiable. Generic third-party caps can sometimes be made of cheaper plastics that "shed" tiny flakes over time, ironically causing the very sensor dust you were trying to avoid.
Pro Tip: If you're switching to a different mount system (like using a Metabones Speed Booster), keep this MFT cap in your kit. When you remove the Speed Booster to go back to native glass, you'll need this cap to protect the camera's native mounting throat.
