The newly tooled Oxford Lincoln Continental X100 is a one-off replica of the 1961 produced vehicle in which J F Kennedy was assassinated on 22nd November 1963. The car is a 1961 Lincoln Continental four door convertible with 'suicide doors' which was codenamed SS-100-X by the US Secret Service for whom it was painted the special midnight blue colour and modified to their specifications by the Ford Motor Company before being delivered to the White House in March 1961. Although always an open car, variants included a bubble top, a black cover for the bubble, a formal rear top and a stainless steel forward section, none of which were bullet-proof. Following the Kennedy assassination, the car was repainted in black and many design amendments were implemented. It remained in various degrees of service at the White House before being retired in 1978 to be displayed in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. .

Our model echoes the original midnight blue version and features the American Stars and Stripes flag as well as the Presidential flag, each mounted in a silver holder on the front wings. Registered GG - 300, the long wheel base car has a black chassis and matt black interior. Silvered coachlines run right along the upper and lower body of the car, including the wheel arches. The silver finish also enhances the windscreen surrounds, bumpers and wheels - complete with whitewall tyres. The model also includes the built-in metal rail which the VIP passenger could hold on to if standing in the rear of the vehicle to acknowledge crowds along the processional route. Finally the Continental marque features in silver on both sides of the tailfins.
