Simona needs a raise badly, but her boss is too busy with HH&H's new advertising campaign for a fancy perfume to give her the time of day. She gets up early one morning to confront Fred one last time only to find him lying on the plush carpet of his office...murdered. Who is the killer and why? Maybe it's the art director who hungered for Fred's job. Or the jilted ad executive. Or the secretive CEO. Or the overworked Office Manager. There are too many suspects to sort through, but when the cute detective assigned to the case discovers incriminating evidence in Simona's desk, she knows she better find the murderer fast.

"Replete with well-drawn characters...Nothing spoils the fun of this thoroughly engrossing whodunit, which introduces] one of the boldest and most likable female sleuths."
--"Publishers Weekly"

"Small Raise presents a complicated plot and a lot of intriguing ad business colleagues, and introduces Simona's "When in doubt, cook" philosophy. My kind of woman."
--Joyce Christmas, "Mysterious Women"

"Crespi has a light touch with location and atmosphere, and her characters are far from the staid characters often found in series books."
--Ellen Nehr, "Murder Ad Lib"

"Ms. Crespi truly shines in the humor department. Realistic and richly detailed...Crespi will undoubtedly win a following among those who become acquainted with her heroine."
--Stevanne Carter, "Mostly Murder"

Super informative and easy to read!
Format: Kindle
Fantastic! I didn't expect a book about taxes and financial planning to be a page turner, but it certainly was. I almost dreaded starting it because this topic is such a headache, but I started and then devoured it in a single day. What I really appreciate is that it went into detail where most books about author business just give mealy mouthed generalizations, not specific to any particular country, and then warn you that their non-advice "does not constitute legal advice." Write It Off actually goes into meaningful detail about the different types of business structures in the U.S. and how to decide which is best for you. The section on deductible expenses made me realize that I've been missing an opportunity to write off a significant expense that I hadn't even considered. The section at the end with a list of helpful expense -tracking and budgeting tools was super helpful too. I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily, but I would definitely recommend this to any creative with a small business. It's not just for authors!

An Essential (Unique) Resource
I have been in finance for nearly thirty years, but accounting for my hobby writing practice is still a mess. Lots of laws, and rules, and detail. Yuck – who has time? Christy’s book simplifies many of these issues, distilling them down to the essentials, and empowering writers to do much of their own financial work. It may not eliminate the need for an accounting professional, but enables and may reduce those costs (not to mention – your accountant will appreciate you being more organized). This included everything from legal structure, to accounting and taxes. The exercises are relevant and not overwhelming. Great resource for anyone with a writing practice, whether it be international bestseller or those of us building on our hobby.

Great resource for authors
Format: Kindle
The book offers a variety of helpful tips from running your own business, filing types, inventory, taxes, and more. I will be referencing it again as it has so much information that I need to look back on. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Two issues with the book: 1) Parts of the book sounded like AI. Words like crucial, labyrinth, and the extensive use of bullets left me somewhat suspicious. It’s not a huge deal as it was heavily edited but was noticeable. 2) Formatting of some parts were in all bold which was hard to read. Entire bulleted sections were all bolder instead of just the first sentence. It needed to be updated and I think this was missed. The book is helpful and a good resource despite these two issues. I appreciated the vast amount of information provided which will be beneficial in the future.
