If this coagulum fails to form or is lost, the healing process can be compromised. Utilizing Airgid aids in the development of a coagulum while minimizing the risk to it, allowing for productive healing to commence. HOW IT WORKS Airgid serves to avert wound infections and manage primary, reactionary, and secondary bleeding after extractions. When applied, an Airgid sponge can absorb significantly more than its own weight in blood, thereby reducing the ‘dead space’ in the wound and stabilizing the blood coagulum. This marks the initial step toward achieving haemostasis. Primary bleeding is controlled as the Airgid fits snugly into the cavity. Reactionary bleeding is prevented since the closely fitting Airgid stops gaps and secondary cavities from forming as the blood coagulum contracts. Airgid also helps to avert secondary hemorrhage, typically caused by infections, which may occur up to fourteen days post-surgery. The silver ions from the colloidal silver, which are integrated into the gelatin sponge, become activated in the moist environment, effectively diminishing bacterial presence at the site.
