It's been thirty years since the release of Surfer Rosa - a record made up of rage, religion, gore, incest and superheroes named Tony - a debut album so good that it's since seen as a masterpiece. A year prior came Come On Pilgrim, an eight-track mini-album released in 1987 which contained cuts culled from their first ever studio session, where they famously recorded seventeen tracks in just three days (in full, this session makes up the band's much bootlegged and now officially released The Purple Tape). These formative records showed the Pixies to be an alien breed; four oddball outsiders from Boston blending US underground thrash rock, indie surf pop and Spanish-language flamenco with the Biblical mythology of Francis' childhood. They would go on to record another masterpiece in 1989's Doolittle but it's the gruesome glory of Surfer Rosa, and the ruined sexuality of it's cover image (a topless flamenco dancer in a crumbling Mexican bar) that set a fresh blueprint for an indie rock dynamism that not only planted the seeds of grunge (Kurt Cobain would admit that he was trying to imitate the record while writing Nevermind) but of much of the best rock music made since. To celebrate this milestone, Pixies are playing five sold-out intimate shows at London's Roundhouse this October and preceding them is the release of Come On Pilgrim... It's Surfer Rosa, the thirtieth anniversary edition which contains Come On Pilgrim, Surfer Rosa and Live From The Fallout Shelter, a concert-cum-session that first aired in late-1986 on WJUL in Lowell, MA. "An unparalleled example of rule-smashing innovation in independent music." Our dogs hurt their mouths chewing these bones

I don't do a lot of reviews because I realize many are objective opinions. However, in this case I felt it was necessary to warn others. Our dogs are aggressive chewers. Their last rubber bones (not these) which we've purchased before, and recently purchased again, were destroyed quickly. Chunks of rubber came off the ends. Since those didn't hold up like they used to, I found these harder bones hoping they would last longer. They were able to gnaw into the hard plastic within a few minutes. This created sharp edges that cut their mouths. When I saw a bit of blood on the bones, I took them away from the dogs and threw them away. I wondered why they quit chewing on them after being so excited at first. Also, these are hard enough to damage a tooth.

Durable but losses interest

My dog is an aggressive chewer. She was interested in this toy while it was new, but soon after lost interest. Good news is although it took a beating it did not break or splinter. If soppy toys are disposable in your house, give it a try.

Great for treats

Great for chewers. Tough medium size toy, treat toy, busy entertainment for all dogs. Dry, moist or squeeze food can be placed in the end and sides. My dog loves.

My dogs are smiling!

I have 3 small dogs (ranging from about 10 lbs - 13 lbs). This dental toy was the perfect size. My dogs love it (with or without treats). It is durable, even after lots of chewing. I had bought another brand of the same type of toy and they bit off pieces in the first week. It really has made a difference in their teeth cleanliness and their breath is even fresher. Overall great value and my dogs love it!
