KEN STRAWN was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and served in Viet Nam as a Marine Helicopter crew chief and door gunner. He attended Wake Forest University, then moved to California where he worked for computer company Four-Phase Systems. Returning to North Carolina fifteen years later, he became a middle school teacher and coach.
