For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18-Volt LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside. I don't really like buying these super hard plastic toys for my dog, but he's such an aggressive chewer that most toys are like throwing away our money. If he doesn't destroy it it's because he doesn't like it. But these last a while. He's had one of these for almost a month now. It has chew marks, and he chewed a couple of small pieces off, but it's mostly fine. He likes it when I spread peanut butter between the ribs. The only other downside (besides feeding my dog plastic) is that it hurts worse than Lego to step on it when you're barefoot.
