Appearance
A rare and highly sculptural cactus with contorted, twisted, and irregular stems caused by a natural monstrose mutation.
Thick blue-green stems grow in unpredictable, coral-like formations with short, scattered spines.
Slow-growing and unique, each plant develops its own surreal, one-of-a-kind shape.
Care & Growing Conditions
Light: Prefers bright sunlight to full sun; strong light maintains healthy growth and compact form.
Soil: Well-draining cactus or sandy soil mix.
Watering: Drought-tolerant; allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.
Temperature: Thrives in USDA zones 9–11; protect from temperatures below 30°F (-1°C).
Humidity: Prefers low humidity and dry conditions.
Flower
Produces large, fragrant white flowers at night on mature plants.
Blooming is rare in container-grown monstrose varieties but spectacular when it occurs.
Toxicity
Non-toxic to humans and pets. Spines are mild but can irritate skin if handled carelessly.
Important Note
Each Cereus peruvianus ‘Monstrose’ ‘Petra’ is truly unique. Stem shape, size, and branching vary naturally. The plant you receive may not be the exact one pictured but will be the same species and quality.
