The Tamiya 1/48 P-47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop (61090) reproduces the definitive production variant of the heaviest single-engine fighter to see combat in WWII — the P-47D with its 360-degree teardrop bubble canopy that replaced the original razorback configuration. The bubbletop P-47D became the standard production Thunderbolt from 1944, giving pilots unprecedented all-round vision while retaining the formidable Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine and devastating eight-.50 calibre armament.
Tamiya's 1/48 kit captures the bubbletop canopy, massive cowling, and characteristic Thunderbolt proportions with excellent engineering accuracy.
Kit highlights:
- Accurate P-47D with bubbletop 360° vision canopy
- R-2800 Double Wasp engine cowling faithfully reproduced
- Eight .50 cal guns, bombs, and rocket options
- USAAF European and Pacific marking options
- The definitive production Thunderbolt in 1/48 scale
Please note: Cement and paints required, sold separately.
