This marks the fourth release from the Esplanade Series which focuses on the works of Yoshio Ojima, Motohiko Hamase, and Satsuki Shibano. Inspired by John Cage, Jon Hassel, Brian Eno, and the emergence of house and techno music, Technodrome is jazz bassist turned electronic experimentalist Motohiko Hamase's foray into what he calls ambient house or, as he explains, "using the gritty sensation inherent to the core of house music" to create an ambient record "aiming to express inverted images, optical illusions, and the sense of déjà vu that modern people can get in the city." Technodrome is constructed around innovative minimalism, a robotic funk orchestrated by bass lines and percussions, and monochrome moods. It's the most intriguing project in Hamase's discography, a ghostly ride set in '90s urban landscape, where repetition sets the groove and brings things to life, echoing Hamase's deeper subtext for his compositions: "and attempt to recreate (as metaphor) the time in our mother's womb." The album was initially released in 1993 by Newsic, the cult label started by Tokyo's Wacoal Art Center (also known as Spiral), home, notably, of Yoshio Ojima who co-produced the album. It is now reissued in conjunction with Motohiko Hamase's #Notes of Forestry (1988) and Anecdote (WRWTFWW 036CD/LP) albums. The album is sourced from original masters and available on CD and vinyl for the first time ever. Includes liner notes from the artist.

Comfortable and good value

The material of this cotton/linen blend kaftan is light and breathable. The sleeves are just the right length for me. The fit around my chest is a bit tight, but still it’s comfortable to wear so long as I don’t reach up for something. FYI, I have a 52-inch chest and ordered a size XXL (the largest available); this should allow others to judge how the size runs.
I wore it to dinner with some Moroccan co-workers who dressed in similar garments; they were impressed, and complimented on how nice it looked on me. I told them that one day I’d surprise them with such a garment, and I definitely did just that.
The lower 2 buttons work great, but the one around the collar has a very tight loop which makes it difficult to button and unbutton. I can’t use that button anyway because the collar is too small for my neck.
The craftsmanship is top notch according to my friends. I didn’t mention that I got this for free, and let them know the Amazon price. They agreed with me that this was a good value.

For the L*ve of the Game...

When I ordered this beautiful Thobe I noticed along with its minimalistic nature in looks that it took on, was the low price point... these dress garments usually run me a pretty penny in pastimes. It is soft, breathable & comfortable with a slender-like fit, all while being made of cotton and linen, which can be worn in multiple seasons... I ordered the black for a test run, and I am always on the look-out for (linen-cotton) around the clock (seasons)! And I am very pleased to report that I need additional colors because the quality of this garment is off the hook... and I want them all on MY hook! "WE WINN"

Fits great and works well in the hot summers - May order more in the future in other colors

Looks and feels great - very breathable in the hot summers with the Cotton and Linen blend. It felt a little rough at first but after washing it it feels wonderful (and it did not shrink!). It fit well and the size is true to what the table shows. It felt a little long at first but I got used to it very quickly. It's comfortable when going outside when it's 80+ F outside. This seems like a quality product and I hope it will last for years to come. Within the next few months of summer, if I really like after wearing it a few times I might order some other colors!
