A project that never stands still, Waaju's members have been busy as part of other ensembles (Caravela, Bahla, Jordan Rakei, and Ashley Henry, to name a few), which means they cherish each time they get to make music together. The five cuts on this album are only a snapshot of what they're doing and continually try to do - the tip of the iceberg - but one that speaks volumes about their intentions. Kicking off the album is "Ali's Mali" is an ode to the great Malian guitarist Ali Farka Toure, but seen through a different lens, as he did himself in reinventing West African music. His spirit is transcended into the modern soundscape mixed with dub, electronic music, and echoes of Cuban batá drumming, reminiscent of the two countries' cultural exchanges throughout the 20th Century. "Kaolack" draws from a Senegalese rhythm found in sabar and mbalax music. It's transformed into a gritty, surging groove with heavy touches of psychedelia and smatterings of traditional sounds pulsating from it's textures. "Neleh" explores different sides of a love song and has a myriad of influences displaying different characteristics. Tinges of yearning Tuareg music from Northern Mali, sizzling son percussion and delicate chimurenga-fused guitar, together presenting an introverted, drifting piece with twists and turns. "Waaju" is influenced by the samba funk of 1970's Brazil combined with the more widely known Louisiana funk of The Meters, et al. It's irresistible lilting rhythm and infectious energy are brought into a new modern jazz sphere displaying the spontaneity in improvisation of each member. "Maroc" draws from the chaabi music of Morocco and Algeria, which bandleader Ben experienced firsthand whilst in Marrakech. Much less known internationally than Moroccan gnawa music, it's heavily syncopated drum rhythm creates a frenzy of energy, which is interpreted here much more slowly and dirtier in character, with dubby bass and dissonant harmonies.

Saved my neck and my desk space! Solid and stylish

I’ve been looking for a way to raise my dual 27-inch monitors, and this Fenge stand is perfect. The 42.5-inch length is exactly what I needed—both monitors fit with room to spare. It’s raised them to the perfect ergonomic height, so no more neck strain!
The wood finish looks much more expensive than it actually is, and the storage space underneath is a lifesaver for hiding my docking station and keyboard when I'm done for the day. It feels very sturdy and doesn't bow in the middle at all. If you want a clean, organized desk, this is the way to go.

Decent Stand with Lots of Storage Options

Received this stand today and am very pleased. I was able to put it together in about 15 minutes . I had no issues during assembly other than that my box was missing the instructions; luckily they were relatively easy to find online when searching the brand on google.
Now for the price range, this is a great bang for your buck as far as monitor stands go. It has nice heavy duty metal legs and the built in phone stand is a nice touch, but I do wish the the stand itself was made of solid wood as it does feel like cheap particle board that may or may not bow over time depending on how much weight you put on it. It's not as cheap feeling as many other stands on Amazon but I do think it would benefit tremendously if it was built with real wood.
Because it has (2) shelves, one of the best things about this stand is how many places it has to store items, setup docking stations, laptops, or even small music interfaces including under the bottom shelf. However, I think that the center cubby should've had an opening in the back to allow cords/cables to pass through which would've made this stand even more versatile, the only way around that issue is to drill a hole through the back panel but at least it will be pretty hidden and not visible from the front.
All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and think the pros outweigh the cons. It tidied up my desk's overall look, has (2) wide shelves, and overall sleek/modern design all for $100 makes it worth it. I would definitely buy it again but hope they improve on the shelf material, even if it does increase the price slightly.

As good as you hope it is!

I'm really happy with this stand! It perfectly well made, all the holes line up, the legs are made of metal, it's very sturdy, and the instructions were easy to follow! The stand sits on my desk perfectly flat and the wood print veneer looks good. I would recommend this stand to friends and family without hesitation.

Good, would recommend

My favorite feature is the shelf that sticks out with a ledge for phones and tablets. It feels like an elegant design and I appreciate being able to use my iPad as a second screen for my Mac mini and/or as a sort of office dashboard.
The wood is mdf with veneer, so not the best materials. And I was a little disappointed with the wood tone, which leans cooler/grayer than my desk. But the tone isn’t misrepresented in the listing, it’s just not prominent. And I don’t notice once it’s on my desk and loaded with various tech. It actually blends in really well and matches my black on wood aesthetic. The legs are a really cool design too.
Overall very pleased, and $90 is within the realm of reason. If you want a true wood cockpit-style riser you’d have to pay $300+.

Perfect!

So excited about this purchase. Looks great, so easy to put together, and functional with the shelf that comes out for your phone, glasses or whatever you want to set down while you work. Makes it so your desk isn’t just flat and boring and feels more put together. Also great at hiding cables that you might have hanging off your desk. Highly recommend!
