'The great book on 1966 that needed writing.'PAUL HAYWARD, OBSERVER'Panoramic and polemic.'JONATHAN NORTHCROFT, SUNDAY TIMES-A vivid portrait of the world in 1966, centred around the storied World Cup tournament and its backdrop, published to mark the 60th anniversary.

1966, with London declared ‘a swinging city’ and John Lennon proclaiming the Beatles ‘more popular than Jesus’, the year’s football World Cup convenes an international community standing at an inflection point, emerging from the long shadow of the Second World War and hurtling towards the future.

Propelled by social change, civil rights movements and technological advancement serve as beacons of hope and possibility. Yet, Cold War tensions, the escalation of the Vietnam War, and the space race between America and the Soviet Union project a different image. As China’s Cultural Revolution begins, and talks are initiated to reunify Germany, football has the potential to inflame ideological rivalries, unite old enemies, and allow nations to demonstrate their prowess on a global stage.

Through the prism of the extraordinary tournament and the eight teams that reached the quarter finals – England, West Germany, Uruguay, Argentina, Portugal, Soviet Union, North Korea and Hungary – Michael Calvin provides a vivid portrait of a critical moment in world history. Examining the sporting, social and cultural significance of the competition and its backdrop, this hugely entertaining book brings to life a world and a sport caught in a tide of change, and shows how this critical year would change both forever.

-'England’s one World Cup victory needed this book. An absorbing account of what 1966 actually meant... by the writer who has covered more aspects of how the English game actually works than any other.'MIGUEL DELANEY, INDEPENDENT'A tremendous accomplishment. Rich, compelling and highly readable.'SEB STAFFORD-BLOOR, THE ATHLETIC'Fascinating and enthralling. A book that will capture your imagination.'DARREN LEWIS, DAILY MIRROR

Great daily lotion
Style: 3.38 Fl Oz (Non SPF)
Great daily lotion. I love that it is light and fragrance free. It is perfect for day use. I have dry skin and sometimes it is not enough to use by itself. I mostly use it during the day as a base for sunscreen but it feels really good on the face and does not leave my face feeling greasy. The ingredients are really good and the value for money is great. I love LRP products and this is so easy to use.

The best
Style: 3.38 Fl Oz (Non SPF)
I’ve been using the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer for a few weeks now, and it’s honestly one of the best daily moisturizers I’ve tried—especially for sensitive skin. First thing I noticed is how lightweight it feels. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave that greasy or heavy film that a lot of “hydrating” lotions do. My skin feels instantly softer, but not suffocated. It layers really well under makeup too—no pilling or weird texture. What really stands out is how balanced my skin has been since using it. I tend to get dry patches but also occasional breakouts, and this somehow helps with both. It hydrates without clogging pores, and I’ve noticed less redness overall. The fact that it contains ceramides and niacinamide is a huge plus if you’re trying to repair your skin barrier. It’s also fragrance-free, which I personally look for because anything scented tends to irritate my skin. The only small downside is the price point compared to drugstore moisturizers, but honestly, a little goes a long way and the quality makes it worth it. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this if you have sensitive, combination, or dry skin and want something simple but effective. It’s become a staple in my routine.

Moisturizing & repairs skin barrier, but does pill.
Style: 3.38 Fl Oz (Non SPF)
Given myself a couple weeks of consistent use before giving a review. There are a lot of pros to this product which include: moisturizing and stays moisturized all day, made my PIE marks (post acne marks) fade a lot faster. Repairs my skin barrier, especially while using tretinoin nightly, not too thick but thick enough to keep my face hydrated. It does not have a smell. The cons are: slight burn for about 15 seconds but disappears, it pills if I apply too much. It does pill less if I pat it on my face versus rubbing; it does not pill when I apply liquid foundation. I just have to let it dry for 15-20 mins before applying makeup. I found the pros to overpower the cons and will continue to use this product.

Will buy again!
Style: 3.38 Fl Oz (Non SPF)
This is a very nice product. For the size it seems a bit expensive, but a little goes a long way and it may be a better value than I initially thought. My skin does look better, so it is doing it's job! I like the texture of it. It is fairly light, not oily, absorbs quickly into the skin, which I like. Highly recommend.
