Large Eye-Catching Bakhtiar Carpet c.1930 - High-Knot Density, Durable Wool, 442x376cm

A magnificent and substantial Bakhtiar carpet from circa 1930, showcasing the robust beauty, geometric sophistication, and legendary durability that have made Bakhtiar carpets prized by collectors and connoisseurs worldwide. Measuring an impressive 442x376 cm (approximately 14'6" x 12'4"), this large-format carpet features high knot density, finest quality wool, vibrant natural dyes, and the characteristic Bakhtiar design vocabulary. This is an investment-grade Persian carpet that combines aesthetic power with practical durability and enduring value.

Bakhtiar Carpets - Legendary Durability and Beauty

Bakhtiar carpets, woven by the Bakhtiari tribal confederation in the Chahar Mahal region of southwestern Iran, occupy a distinguished position in Persian carpet tradition. Renowned for their exceptional durability, robust construction, and distinctive design aesthetic, Bakhtiar carpets have been treasured for generations by those who appreciate both beauty and practicality. The Bakhtiari people's nomadic heritage and weaving traditions extending back centuries inform every aspect of these carpets' character - from their sturdy construction to their bold, confident designs.

High-Knot Density - Technical Excellence

This Bakhtiar carpet demonstrates high knot density - significantly finer than typical tribal work and approaching the quality of urban workshop production. High knot density allows for detailed pattern execution, refined color work, and enhanced durability. Each knot was individually tied by hand using the Turkish (symmetrical) knot characteristic of Bakhtiar weaving. The combination of high knot density with robust wool creates a carpet that is both visually sophisticated and extraordinarily durable - capable of withstanding heavy use while maintaining its beauty for generations.

Durable Wool - Material Excellence

Bakhtiar carpets are legendary for their wool quality - thick, lustrous, and exceptionally durable. The wool comes from sheep raised in the Zagros Mountains, where harsh climate and sparse vegetation produce animals with particularly resilient fleece. This mountain wool possesses natural lanolin content that provides inherent stain resistance, natural luster that creates beautiful light reflection, and exceptional durability that allows Bakhtiar carpets to withstand decades of heavy use. The wool in this carpet demonstrates these characteristic qualities - thick pile, natural sheen, and the robust feel that distinguishes finest Bakhtiar work.

Impressive Dimensions - Room-Commanding Presence

At 442x376 cm (approximately 14'6" x 12'4"), this carpet offers substantial size perfect for anchoring large living rooms, dining rooms, or formal spaces. The generous dimensions allow the design to be fully appreciated while providing impressive visual impact. Large-format Bakhtiar carpets of this quality are particularly desirable, as they offer the perfect combination of presence, practicality, and investment value. A carpet of this size can define and unify an entire room while providing comfortable, beautiful flooring for generations.

Eye-Catching Design - Geometric Sophistication

Described as "eye-catching," this Bakhtiar carpet features the characteristic design elements that distinguish this weaving tradition - bold geometric patterns, strong color contrasts, and confident compositional structure. Bakhtiar designs often incorporate garden compartment layouts (khesti), medallion formats, or all-over geometric patterns, all executed with the directness and visual power characteristic of tribal aesthetics refined through centuries of tradition. The design's boldness ensures the carpet commands attention while its geometric sophistication provides enduring visual interest.

Natural Dyes - Color Excellence

Carpets from this period (circa 1930) employed natural dyes derived from plants, insects, and minerals - materials that produce colors of incomparable depth and aging characteristics. Natural dyes mellow beautifully over time, developing rich patina and subtle tonal variations that synthetic dyes cannot replicate. The color palette likely includes rich reds from madder root, deep blues from indigo, warm earth tones, and other hues achieved through traditional dye mastery. These colors will continue to develop character and beauty as the carpet ages.

Construction Excellence

Bakhtiar carpets are constructed using techniques that prioritize durability and longevity. The foundation (warp and weft) is typically cotton, providing strength and dimensional stability. The pile is densely packed and securely knotted, creating a carpet that resists wear and maintains its appearance through decades of use. The edges and ends are finished with traditional techniques that prevent unraveling and ensure structural integrity. This robust construction explains why Bakhtiar carpets are often passed down through generations, becoming family heirlooms.

Circa 1930 Dating - Historical Context

The 1930 dating places this carpet in an interesting transitional period - after the height of traditional tribal weaving but before the widespread introduction of synthetic dyes and commercial production methods. Carpets from this era often represent the last generation of traditional weaving, combining time-honored techniques with the refinement that came from increased market sophistication. This historical positioning enhances the carpet's collectibility and cultural significance.

Condition - Good with Character

This carpet shows overall good condition with signs of wear and some stains - honest indicators of a carpet that has been used and loved. Bakhtiar carpets' legendary durability means they often survive decades of use while remaining beautiful and functional. The wear adds character and authenticity while the carpet's fundamental integrity remains sound. Any stains can often be addressed through professional cleaning by specialists in antique Oriental carpets.

Investment Value and Market Position

Large-format Bakhtiar carpets with high knot density represent excellent investment opportunities. As authentic antique Persian carpets become scarcer and appreciation for traditional weaving grows, quality Bakhtiar carpets have shown consistent market strength. This carpet's combination of substantial size, high technical quality, circa 1930 dating, and characteristic Bakhtiar excellence positions it as an investment-grade acquisition. The practical durability means the carpet can be enjoyed daily while appreciating in value.

Versatility and Practicality

One of Bakhtiar carpets' greatest virtues is their versatility - they work beautifully in both traditional and contemporary interiors, formal and casual settings. The bold geometric designs complement modern aesthetics while honoring traditional Persian carpet heritage. The legendary durability means these carpets can be used in high-traffic areas without concern. This combination of beauty, durability, and versatility explains why Bakhtiar carpets remain perennially popular among collectors and decorators.

Cultural and Historical Significance

This carpet embodies the Bakhtiari people's rich cultural heritage, nomadic traditions, and centuries of weaving excellence. It represents the continuation of artistic and technical knowledge passed down through generations, refined through countless iterations. Owning such a carpet means becoming custodian of this extraordinary cultural legacy and ensuring its preservation for future generations.

document feeder not working on first real use.
Pattern Name: Printer, Style: ET-15000
Serious reliability issues and concerns. We have owned the printer for about 1 month and printed a limited amount. For the first time today I tried scanning with the document feeder. I was scanning about 12 pages that should of been 1 document. The first page scanned and then stopped. I started the scanner again and it scanned about 5 pages and then jammed. The rest of the pages were a constant jamming/not feeding fiasco. I would run to the computer and hit scan, then run to the printer and manually push on the paper as hard as i could without the paper bending. if I pushed just right i could get a few pages through without jamming. I ended up with about 6 pdf's instead of one document and constant jamming in the paper feeder. Frustrating from a brand new printer and the first time using the paper scanner. There is a clicking noise when it scans. a few of the pages fed properly but the rest had to be forced. No obvious obstructions or other issues. I tried cleaning the rollers with no success. Then attempted to reach out to Epson support. The only support option I could find was an email form that put me in a captia loop after entering all the information so I had to start over on the ticket submission. No chat support, no phone number, brand new higher priced printer with serious build/reliability issues. Frustrating.

This is a great printer. I love it.
Pattern Name: Printer, Style: ET-15000
I’ve been using the Epson ET‑15000 for custom chip bags and ran into a huge issue with my original paper choice. The printer itself is great, but the Koala 30 lb glossy paper did not play well with the black ink at all. Even after letting my prints sit for a full two days, the black areas would still smear and come off on my fingers as soon as I started folding and assembling the bags. It was super frustrating and made it hard to trust my prints for orders. I decided to try Eshang high gloss paper instead, and the difference has been night and day. With the same Epson ET‑15000 and the same designs, the Eshang paper works like a charm. The black ink dries quickly, doesn’t rub off when handled, and holds up beautifully while I’m folding and sealing my chip bags. Colors look vibrant, the finish is nice and glossy, and I don’t have to worry about smudging anymore. If you’re using an Epson EcoTank like the ET‑15000 and struggling with black ink smearing on Koala glossy, I highly recommend switching to Eshang high gloss. It completely solved the problem for me and made my chip bag printing so much easier and more professional.

Need scan button to work!
Pattern Name: Printer, Style: ET-15000
Love (almost) everything about this except the scan button. The scan button on the Epson screen does not work. I called Microsoft who tried to fix it through the connection but still didn't work. Sent an e-mail to Epson and no response. Really need this scan button to work so that I can scan to desktop.
