This book uses the Major Scale for all songs and refers to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd scale degrees as the numbers 1, 2, and 3, and so on... Since the major scale and Arabic numerals are recognizable in almost every culture, we have coined the term "Universal Scale Tab" for this type of musical notation. Any instrument that plays a scale can play these songs in the key of their choice.
Songs have numbered melodies, lyrics and Roman numeral chords. Instructions explain the notation and how to create arrangements of the songs. The index of songs by note range, chords and meter helps you to choose songs at your level or your student's level. The introduction includes suggestions for teachers who want to incorporate this method into their teaching.
