Product Description

This classic wood block set includes 100 solid-wood blocks painted bright red, blue, yellow, and green. A versatile variety of shapes are included: rectangular prisms, cubes, cylinders, half circles, arches, and two different sizes of rectangular planks and triangles. A set of wooden blocks provides an opportunity for a child to pass the hours constructing towers, castles, towns, and more! Designed for children ages 3 and up, this set offers the opportunity for younger kids to practice their fine motor skills and experiment with the laws of physics while giving older kids an outlet for their creativity. Parents will appreciate the safe, durable construction. Though they're made of solid wood, these blocks are light in weight, which makes them safer for small children. The blocks have rounded edges and a smooth painted finish that won't splinter with play. Our wooden building blocks set is designed for kids entertainment but also introduces early math concepts, and helps children develop good patience and strong motor skills. The Melissa & Doug Wooden Building Blocks Set makes a great gift for kids aged 3 to 8 years. Add the Melissa & Doug Wooden Latches Board to round out the hands-on play experience. For more than 30 years, Melissa & Doug has created beautifully designed imagination- and creativity-sparking products that NBC News called “the gold standard in early childhood play.” Today, Melissa & Doug is proudly partnering with the American Academy of Pediatrics to foster early brain development and help children build important life skills through play.

One of the better food, diet, and health books available, but with significant drawbacks
Format: Kindle
Paul and Shou-Ching Jaminet present the most cogent argument in favor of ancestral-style eating that I have ever read. In fact, I never really understood the logic behind Paleo until I read Perfect Health Diet. I applaud their scientific rigor and willingness to challenge dietary dogma, Paleo or otherwise. There is no question that removing all grains and legumes from one's diet is incredibly effective for people with autoimmune diseases and some other chronic, intractable health conditions. But when taking the evolutionary perspective on human diets it's also important to recognize that many cultures have thrived on grains and legumes for millennia, and humans have evolved some clever ways to extract nutrients from foods that would otherwise be toxic through the use of prolonged soaking, sprouting, and fermentation, all techniques that are very effective at reducing seed toxicity. I think that properly prepared grains and legumes can be a nutritious part of our diets, at least for those of us who do not suffer from autoimmunity. Stephen Guyenet has written excellent posts on legumes (wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2013/11/beans-lentils-and-paleo-diet.html) and grains (wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/search/label/lectins). I also wish that the Jaminets had delved a little bit deeper into the subject of fatty fish from a sustainability standpoint. They recommend that we eat fatty fish, but make no mention of seafood sustainability and the importance of avoiding farmed fish, especially farmed (aka "Atlantic") salmon. Farmed fish are fed soy, corn, and pellets made of smaller fatty fish like anchovies and sardines. Entire small fish fisheries off the coast of Western South America are being destroyed in order to feed our hunger for farmed salmon, while we have plenty of small fatty fish we can eat (but choose not to) here on the west coast of North America (herring, sardines, anchovies, etc.). I bet that the fat profile (3:6 ratio) of farmed salmon is not nearly as good as that of wild salmon and smaller cold water fish. That said, I highly respect and follow their writing and will continue to look forward to their excellent work.

Life changing book
Format: Paperback
Amazing life changing book! I’ve grown so much from reading this book than I have in years. It has opened my eyes to learn more about myself and others - that others have recognized that I’ve changed. I hope others discover the same impact as it has on me!

Self-Care’s Always in Season

Self Care for Adult Children of EI Parents is a great book to teach the lessons in life you maybe never got the chance to learn. How can you know how to handle or deal with things you were never taught properly or modeled? This is your start right here! Identify places you need to grow. Self-care comes in several forms and in this book you can explore where you may know you need help or start on page one. Often times caring for others is the way your brain is wired based on experience. Throughout this book you will find tools to get you on track putting yourself care first so you are able to show up for those who deserve if and conserve the energy on those who don’t. It’s also a great addition to the set by Lindsey Gibson for Emotionally Immature “Parents/People”.

Life Skills You Were Never Taught

I have never felt so seen and heard by Dr. Gibson. This book has truly been life altering for me. The lessons in this book have helped me become a confident leader and a more stable, happy, and kind person. I understand myself so much better than before, and now see how my upbringing has affected me into adulthood. The valuable lessons in this amazing book are easy to understand and implement in everyday life. Lessons are categorized and laid out in a very easy to read and retain way. I also have the audiobook and love to follow along and highlight passages. The hearing of the kind words in this book is so healing for me, and I highly recommend it. I feel motivated by this material each time I see it. Thank you so much, Dr. Gibson, for you dedication to this topic. It has sincerely changed my life for the better.

Therapist recommended
Format: Paperback
My therapist recommended this book, and I can already see why. It’s incredibly validating and insightful. It really helped me understand so many of my feelings and behaviors in a way I hadn't before. The exercises and practical advice are so helpful and feel very grounded. It's a must-read if you're working through this kind of stuff. I’m so grateful my therapist told me about it.
