Originally published in 1934, it remains an essential guide to the field. To describe the worldwide range and variety of weaponry, Stone drew upon the more than 4,000 items in his private collection of Eastern arms and armor, as well as the European arms collection of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, and a variety of other sources. Since the author subsequently bequeathed his entire collection to the Metropolitan Museum, this volume serves as an abbreviated visual reference to that institution's Arms and Armor collection.
By profession a metallurgist, the author focused on techniques of manufacture and workmanship to derive his method of codifying the typology of weapons, relying on an alphabetized dictionary format to avoid the confusions he found in a field without standardized nomenclature. This glossary format makes it easy for anyone to locate material on the astonishing variety of weapons covered. These include arquebuses, blunderbusses, flintlocks, wheel locks, matchlocks, and other antique guns; German armor; French rapiers; Roman short swords; Turkish crossbows; all the Japanese bladed weapons (katana, wakizashi, naginata, etc.); the East Asian kris in its countless permutations; and many more.
Illustrated with 875 detailed figures, incorporating thousands of individual photographs and drawings, the book was written from the unique viewpoint of an expert who devoted a lifetime to the field. Hard to locate today (original editions are worth hundreds of dollars), Stone's Glossary represents a peerless resource for scholars, experts, collectors, students, hobbyists, and institutions -- any student of the long history and development of weapons and armor around the world.

Perfectly fits what I needed for my espresso habit!

This Maestri House mini coffee scale is a great little tool for espresso and pour-over. The size is compact enough to fit under a portafilter or cup, and the 0.1g accuracy makes dialing in coffee much easier. I like the built-in timer, rechargeable USB-C battery, and clean black-and-silver look. It feels precise, practical, and easy to keep near the espresso machine. Great value for anyone who wants more consistent coffee.

Maestro House Mini Coffee Scale
I have begun to drink tea, pu’erh tea to be specific. I have several varieties and I have had a problem with getting consistent results. The varieties can be very different in size depending on when the leaves are harvested (leaves harvested in spring are much smaller). So the easiest way to get consistent results is by weight. This scale is very easy to use with a ceramic tea scoop, set the tea scoop on the scale, zero it out and add tea leaves. This has made my results much better, without the wild swings in strength I had been getting before trying to eyeball even measures. This scale gives me accurate measurements to one tenth of a gram.

Mostly great, except one little annoyance

Pros- lightweight, small, very accurate, easy to clean, timer included.
Cons- I use this to brew espresso on my Breville Touch and to get an accurate reading, you have to place something flat (structured) under the scale. Otherwise the reading just jumps all over the place. I know lot of espresso machines have the same base, so this might be an issue for some!
This is my reason for 4/5 stars. It’s an easy fix, it’s just kind of annoying. Value for the price seems to be on point. It’s easy to clean. It has a timer as well as scale (nice for espresso). Buttons work the first time you push them.

Beautiful, functional, and perfect for a stylish coffee bar
I absolutely love this scale. As someone who cares about both function and aesthetics, this was exactly what I was looking for. Great scale, an excellent buy

Is it possible to fall in love with a scale? I unboxed this one and, without reading any directions, put an empty 1/4 cup on it, turned the scale on, filled the 1/4 cup with coffee beans till I had the desired 17 or so grams, and turned the scale off. Easy-peasy! It’s small but sensitive, able to tell when a single bean has been added or removed. I almost didn’t get it because of the charging issue, but at least it tells you what the current charge is, and the way I use it I believe it will last several months without recharging. I’m so glad I bought this scale!
