The Apis Vase: A Beautiful Contemporary Large Clay Vase by Michele Cowmeadow (UK Ceramicist)

An exceptional and museum-quality contemporary ceramic vase by Michele Cowmeadow, a distinguished UK ceramicist known for her eye-catching works inspired by Greco-Roman vases and mosaics. This large, beautiful clay vase features the sacred Apis bull motif, connecting to ancient Egyptian religious traditions while interpreted in Cowmeadow's unique contemporary style. In new condition and part of the artist's limited production, this statement piece represents an excellent acquisition opportunity for collectors of contemporary ceramics, ancient-inspired art, or those seeking distinctive decorative objects that bridge ancient and modern aesthetics.

Michele Cowmeadow - UK Contemporary Ceramicist

Michele Cowmeadow has established herself as an important contemporary UK ceramicist, creating distinctive works that draw inspiration from classical antiquity while maintaining thoroughly contemporary character. Her ceramics demonstrate sophisticated understanding of ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern artistic traditions combined with modern design sensibilities and personal artistic vision. Cowmeadow's limited production makes her pieces relatively rare and highly sought after by collectors who appreciate the intersection of ancient inspiration and contemporary craft. Her work appeals to those seeking ceramics that honor historical traditions while speaking in contemporary visual language.

Apis Bull - Sacred Egyptian Symbol

The Apis bull represents one of ancient Egypt's most important sacred animals, worshipped as a living manifestation of the god Ptah and later associated with Osiris. The Apis bull was carefully selected based on specific markings and housed in special temples in Memphis, where it received worship and veneration. Upon death, the Apis bull was mummified and buried with great ceremony. The bull symbolized strength, fertility, and divine power, serving as intermediary between gods and humans. Cowmeadow's choice of this subject demonstrates her engagement with ancient Near Eastern traditions alongside her more typical Greco-Roman inspirations, creating a vase of particular cultural and historical depth.

Ancient Egyptian Influence - Cultural Breadth

While Cowmeadow's work typically draws from Greco-Roman traditions, this Apis vase demonstrates her broader engagement with ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern cultures. Ancient Egypt profoundly influenced Greek and Roman art, and the cultural exchanges between these civilizations created rich artistic traditions. The Apis bull's inclusion in Cowmeadow's repertoire shows sophisticated understanding of ancient art history and willingness to explore diverse cultural sources. This breadth enhances the vase's interest and appeal to collectors of ancient-inspired art.

Large Scale - Impressive Presence

Described as large, this vase offers substantial size that creates commanding presence and makes it suitable as statement piece in interior design. Large-scale ceramics demonstrate technical skill - managing substantial clay bodies, controlling drying and firing of sizable pieces, and achieving consistent quality throughout. The impressive scale makes this vase suitable as focal point in living rooms, entrance halls, or anywhere dramatic decorative impact is desired. Scale dramatically enhances both visual impact and market value.

Beautiful Craftsmanship - Artistic Excellence

The description as beautiful emphasizes the aesthetic success and artistic quality of this vase. Beauty in ceramics results from harmonious proportions, accomplished technique, appropriate decoration, and overall visual impact. Cowmeadow's ability to create beautiful works that honor ancient traditions while maintaining contemporary relevance demonstrates sophisticated artistic sensibility. The beautiful execution ensures this vase will be treasured for its aesthetic merits while serving as conversation piece about ancient cultures and contemporary craft.

Clay Medium - Ancient and Contemporary

Clay represents humanity's oldest continuous craft tradition, with ceramic production extending back thousands of years. Working in clay connects contemporary artists like Cowmeadow to this ancient heritage while the medium's versatility allows for endless creative possibilities. Clay's tactile qualities, earth origins, and transformation through fire resonate with fundamental human experiences. Contemporary ceramics that honor clay's ancient associations while exploring modern aesthetics create works of particular depth and resonance.

Unique Contemporary Style - Artistic Vision

While inspired by ancient traditions, Cowmeadow interprets these influences through her unique contemporary style. This approach avoids pastiche or mere reproduction, instead creating works that are distinctly contemporary while honoring ancient heritage. The balance between historical inspiration and contemporary vision demonstrates sophisticated artistic intelligence and creates ceramics that work beautifully in both traditional and modern interiors. This versatility enhances the vase's appeal and ensures its continued relevance.

Limited Production - Rarity and Value

Cowmeadow's limited production makes her pieces relatively rare and hard to find, significantly enhancing their collectibility and investment potential. Limited production ensures each piece receives maximum attention and care while creating scarcity that drives collector interest. As Cowmeadow's reputation grows and her limited output becomes increasingly sought after, early acquisitions gain both monetary and historical value. The rarity factor makes this vase particularly attractive to serious collectors.

New Condition - Perfect Preservation

The new condition ensures this vase can be enjoyed exactly as the artist intended, without any wear, damage, or condition issues. For ceramics, condition is paramount to value - any chips, cracks, or repairs significantly affect desirability. New condition maximizes both aesthetic appeal and investment value while ensuring the vase will provide beauty and satisfaction for generations.

Statement Piece - Decorative Impact

Described as a wonderful statement piece, this vase offers the decorative impact and visual interest that transforms interiors. Statement pieces serve as focal points, conversation starters, and expressions of personal taste and sophistication. The vase's large scale, ancient Egyptian subject, and classical-contemporary aesthetic make it suitable for creating dramatic impact in various settings. This decorative power, combined with artistic merit and cultural significance, makes the vase valuable beyond mere functional utility.

Companion Pieces - Complete Collection

This Apis vase completes a trilogy with The Ram and The Pegasus, all exploring ancient subjects through contemporary ceramic art. Collectors may wish to acquire all three pieces to create cohesive displays celebrating ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern cultures. The availability of related works enhances collecting opportunities while the series format adds context and depth to individual pieces. Together, the three vases demonstrate Cowmeadow's range and her sophisticated engagement with ancient artistic traditions.

Investment and Collecting Value

Contemporary ceramics by established artists with limited production, ancient inspiration, and distinctive style represent solid investment opportunities. The combination of Cowmeadow's reputation, the vase's large scale, Egyptian subject matter, new condition, limited production, and the work's aesthetic and technical merits creates strong appeal among collectors of contemporary ceramics, ancient-inspired art, and UK craft. As appreciation for contemporary ceramics grows and Cowmeadow's limited output becomes scarcer, quality examples show consistent market performance.

Display and Presentation

This vase's large scale and statement character make it suitable as focal point in various settings - living rooms, entrance halls, studies, or anywhere dramatic decorative impact is desired. The vase can be displayed empty as pure sculpture or used functionally with dried arrangements or branches. The ancient-contemporary aesthetic works beautifully in both traditional and modern interiors. Proper placement and lighting enhance the vase's visual impact and allow the Apis bull motif to be fully appreciated.

Cultural and Artistic Significance

This vase embodies contemporary artists' sophisticated engagement with ancient cultures, the ongoing vitality of ceramic arts, and the creative possibilities that emerge when ancient traditions meet contemporary vision. It represents the dialogue between past and present, ancient Egypt and modern Britain, that characterizes the most interesting contemporary craft. The work invites viewers to see ancient subjects with fresh eyes while appreciating the enduring power of sacred imagery and ceramic art.

Collecting Context

This vase appeals to collectors of contemporary ceramics, ancient-inspired art, Egyptian subjects, UK craft, and those seeking distinctive decorative objects combining artistic merit with cultural depth. It would enhance private collections, corporate holdings, or serve as centerpiece in interiors seeking statement pieces that bridge ancient and contemporary aesthetics.

Strong Omegaverse Comfort and a Attention Grabbing Plot
Format: Kindle
Jillian West never misses when it comes to Omegaverse, and Not Ready is no exception. This story was the perfect blend of cozy comfort and emotional depth while still delivering a strong plot. Vale is such a powerful heroine, she is strong, capable, and determined but I love that she still allows her pack to love and take care of her. It’s that balance of independence and vulnerability that makes her so relatable. The relationship dynamics were amazing: Bishop is steadfast and completely head over heels, Mercy is skeptical but protective in his own way, and Holt is the hesitant one whose slow fall is so satisfying to watch unfold. The romance hits that sweet spot between insta-love and cautious build, keeping me hooked the entire way through. And that ending. Oh my god, the cliffhanger! I need the next book in this duet immediately.

Interesting
Format: Kindle
So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.

I’m a little disappointed.
Format: Kindle
I usually like Jillian West’s books but this one was missing a lot for me. The pregnancy didn’t come across as real. She’s on her feet for 12 hour days but is perfectly healthy at 8 months pregnant? Yet the week she moves in all of a sudden she’s not? She is planning on actually running during one of the plot buildups. But at 8 months pregnant that’s incredibly hard to do. The lack of breathing ability and lung space, the change in body center, mass, and gravity. All of it prohibits running, unless you’re an athlete this didn’t come off as at all realistic. I didn’t feel any connection with the alphas. There wasn’t any emotional connection. It could be because of the tense it was written in. But I didn’t get any deep feelings out of this. It came across as checking off boxes. Even the spicy scenes weren’t really believable for me. I wanted to see them fall for her, and it just kind of all fizzled. Even Bishop. One thing I did really like was the ending. I did not see it coming and I’m interested in reading book two because of it. But on the whole this book was mostly disappointing for me.

Vale is an 8 month pregnant omega working as a waitress at a strip club and a cam girl. She starts to get very creepy vibes from a regular at the club, and her baby daddy ghosted her. She has had an online relationship with a man named Bishop through her cam girl status. One night, bishop was paying to watch her sleep and ansthe creepy regular Andrew break in and watch her sleep he tells vale to come to him at his business now. She flees and finds herself at a large security company with some.hot of alphas who are there to help her. This imegaverse is a little different than I have read, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. Vale is not a traditional omega she was raised by a single beta mom, and the alphas are not normal alphas they have never really loved pack life. But they are ruthless mercenaries. They need her, and she needs them. I love the aspect of the stalker and now the plot twists at the end, so so good. Sometimes, it seemed a little slow and stale mated, but since this a duet, I think It was just her starting to have Vale get to know her alpha suitors. Cliffhanger for sure with this one.

That ending 😫
Format: Kindle
I fell into a false sense of security and really thought this was gearing towards a happy ending. Then I realized there’s no work they don’t punish Andrew. I really liked Vale’s character. I don’t normally read books with pregnancy but going into this knowing she was pregnant made it more enjoyable for me. I loved Bishops devotion to her and her happiness. I also loved that Holt and Mercy couldn’t fight their attraction to her. I love scent matches so very much. I’m so curious to see how this duet will end up. And I need to pay more attention and notice that a book I’m starting is a duet to begin with lol
