This book will singlehandedly transform the way you study the bible. I've read so many books on studying/interpreting the bible, and this one is hands down the best one to give you a solid foundation. To quote from the book, "Study the bible not just to learn more about God but to know and love Him more." Buy this book; you won't regret it.
