Storage of Charcoal:
Charcoal absorbs moisture in the air which might make it more difficult to light. To maintain freshness any opened rolls should be resealed and kept in an air tight container in a cool dry place. Effective storage will ensure quick lighting and longer burning.
How to Light: Remove a Charcoal Tablet from the sealed roll. Place the Charcoal Tablet in/on a holder such as a terracotta or brass hanging holder. Because the Charcoal gets very hot it needs some form of buffer such as sand between the Charcoal Tablet and the holder unless using the terracotta or brass hanging holders which will still get hot to touch so be careful.
The Charcoal Tablet has an igniter to make it burn. Light the edge of the Charcoal Tablet with a match or lighter. Keep the Charcoal Tablet exposed to the open flame for 10-15 seconds. The tablet will then light across its surface and start crackling.
Add resin on top of the Charcoal Tablet so that the Resin will smolder without burning. Keep the resin topped up.
The Charcoal Tablet should be left to burn out and cool in the holder. If the tablet is to be extinguished before it is fully cooled then this should be done with cold water.
Do not handle the tablet when lit as this will cause a burn.
