The coming-of-age stories in Thin Ice relate a range of experiences both good and bad, including happy memories and heartwarming recollections but also personal traumas, intergenerational and racial conflicts, the strictures of religious belief and practice, the joys and sorrows of young romance, and more. Above and beyond the stories of the more notable personalities -- Jim Harrison, Roger Wilkins, John Hockenberry, President Gerald Ford, Betty Ford, Al Green, Paul Schrader, William Brashler -- the book as a whole is chock-full of crisp, humorous, irreverent, and moving writing. Reinder Van Til and Gordon Olson have excerpted half of the pieces from previous publications, while they directly solicited the other half from active writers specifically for this book. The earliest stories go back to the 1830s and 1850s, and the most recent are a cluster of contemporary pieces that describe coming of age in the Grand Rapids of the 1960s through the 1980s. Together they paint a multifaceted, impressionistic portrait of a century and a half in the fair city of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Adorable special occasion suit for boys

I ordered this 3-piece suit for my son and even though it’s currently a little too big for him, I couldn’t resist keeping it because it’s absolutely adorable! The quality really impressed me right out of the package. The fabric feels lightweight and breathable, which will be perfect for warmer weather, and it has a nice polished look without feeling stiff.
The set comes with a blazer, vest, and pants, and each piece is very well made. I love the little details like the lapel on the jacket, the adjustable strap on the vest, and the adjustable waist on the pants, which will definitely help as he grows. It looks like a much more expensive suit than it actually is.
Even though my son will have to grow into it, I’m already excited for him to wear it. I’m thinking it will be perfect for Easter next year or any special occasion. It’s such a cute outfit, and I love that the pieces can be mixed and matched for different looks. Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase and can’t wait to see him wearing it! The blue color goes well for any occasion and I may have to order my husband a suit in matching shade of blue so they can be twins.
The size looks accurate for boys 5T. I took a picture to show the pants next to a pair of unwashed Oshkosh B’Gosh brand straight leg 5T boys denim jeans.

Nice summer suit for my son

I got this linen suit for my 7 year old son and it looks really nice on him. The set comes with the blazer, vest, and pants, which makes it look very polished when worn together.
The material is lightweight and breathable, which is great for warmer weather. It has that classic linen look but still feels comfortable enough for kids to move around in. My son wore it for a few hours and didn’t complain about it being uncomfortable.
