Quiksilver High Altitude 20K Snow Jacket – Men’s

The Quiksilver High Altitude 20K Snow Jacket is a men’s 20K waterproof shell built for serious resort and freeride days, combining a fully taped 20K DryFlight®-level laminate, helmet-compatible hood, and underarm vents in a relaxed, boxy fit with dropped shoulders.

Storm-Ready 20K Shell for Big Mountain Days

  • 20K waterproof protection: A 20,000 mm TPU-laminated shell shrugs off storm snow, wet chairlifts, and deep powder so you stay dry from first chair to last run.
  • Breathable performance shell: The 20K-rated waterproof-breathable construction is designed for active riding, helping dump excess heat and moisture on long, demanding days.
  • Fully taped seams: Critical for true storm use, fully taped seams back up the 20K fabric so melt and wind-driven snow don’t sneak in through the stitching.
  • Uninsulated for layering freedom: No built-in insulation means you can fine-tune warmth with different midlayers, making this jacket work from mid-winter storms to spring missions.
  • Recycled shell with C0 DWR: A 100% recycled polyester plain-weave shell (about 152 g/m²) with C0, PFAS-free DWR delivers rugged durability with a lighter environmental footprint.

Dialed Mountain Features

  • Helmet-compatible hood: The hood is sized to fit over most snow helmets and adjusts quickly to keep your vision clear and your head protected in blowing snow.
  • Underarm vents: Zip open the pits to dump heat fast on bootpacks, hike-to lines, or spring park laps without exposing your core to the wind.
  • Removable snow gaiter: A removable powder skirt (snow gaiter) seals out blower pow and resort spray, and can be taken out when you don’t need it.
  • Front-pocket hem adjusters: Hidden hem cinches inside the hand pockets let you tighten the bottom of the jacket without fumbling around in the snow.
  • Lift-pass pocket on sleeve: A dedicated pass pocket on the left wrist keeps your RFID pass in scan range and out of the way.
  • Printed lining: A lightweight printed lining adds personality inside while sliding smoothly over base and midlayers.

Fit, Feel & Style

  • Relaxed, boxy fit: A roomy, boxy silhouette with dropped shoulders is built for freedom of movement and easy layering, while still looking sharp on and off the hill.
  • All-mountain ready: Whether you’re chasing storm totals, lapping side hits, or logging long resort days, the High Altitude 20K is tuned for aggressive all-mountain riding.

Who It’s For

This jacket is ideal for riders who want a true technical shell rather than a bulky insulated coat. If you ride in variable conditions, like to layer differently for storm days and sunny days, and want 20K waterproof protection, fully taped seams, vents, and a removable snow gaiter all in one piece, the High Altitude 20K Snow Jacket is built for you.

compact surrounds that blend well with the right setup
Size: 4” Woofer
I picked up the Klipsch R‑40M as part of a full 5.1 system built around the R‑50M fronts and the R‑50C center. My original plan was to use another pair of R‑50M speakers in the back, but they simply didn’t fit in the rear cabinet space I have. The R‑40M ended up being the only model that fit comfortably, so they became my surround channels. In terms of build quality, they feel solid and consistent with the rest of the Reference Next‑Gen line. The copper woofers and updated horn design give them the same visual identity as the larger models, which helps the whole system look cohesive. They’re compact enough to place in tighter spaces without compromising too much on performance. Sonically, the R‑40M does a respectable job as a surround speaker. Effects are clear, directional cues are easy to follow, and they integrate smoothly with the more powerful R‑50M fronts. That said, they are noticeably less powerful than the R‑50M, so you need to spend a little time balancing your levels. Once I bumped their channel trim a bit and adjusted the distance settings, the rear soundstage locked in nicely and felt much more even. They won’t deliver the same fullness or dynamic punch as the larger models, but for rear channels that’s usually not a deal breaker. What matters is clarity and consistency, and the R‑40M handles both well. Movies with active surround mixes feel immersive, and ambient effects wrap around the room without calling attention to the speakers themselves. If you’re building a system where space is limited in the back, the R‑40M is a practical and capable choice. Just be prepared to fine tune your calibration so they match the output of the bigger speakers up front. Once dialed in, they round out a 5.1 setup very effectively.

Great Bang for the Buck!
Size: 5.25” Woofer
These R50 Studio Monitors are worth every penny. One could easily spend a heck of a lot more to get less. Have been a pro audio engineer my entire life. These monitors kick out clean, solid bass and accurate highs. Klipsch did a excellent job designing these monitors. Perfect for smail spaces where fidelity is critical. If you wall mount these, make sure you leave at least a 1.5 inch air gap between the back of the monitor and the wall. These units are sweet.

I had in ceiling front speakers and went with these instead. The front ceilings are now height speakers. Sounds great now.
