His unique work contains elements of both American realism and postmodernism, occupying a space between the portraitists Chuck Close and Alex Katz and the pioneering black conceptualists David Hammons and Adrian Piper. Hendricks is best known for his life-sized portraits of people of color from the urban northeast. His bold portrayal of his subject's attitude and style elevates the common person to celebrity status. Cool, empowering, and sometimes confrontational, Hendricks' artistic privileging of a culturally complex black body has paved the way for today's younger generation of artists. This richly illustrated book contains 100 color images of paintings created from 1964 to the present. It focuses primarily on the artist's full-figure portraits, as well as lesser known early works and the artist's more recent portal-like landscape paintings. The catalog includes the most comprehensive bibliography on Hendricks to date, a timeline of the artist's life, and an interview with the artist by Thelma Golden, Director and Chief Curator at the Studio Museum in Harlem. It also includes essays by Barkley L. Hendricks, Duke University art historian Richard J. Powell, exhibition curator Trevor Schoonmaker, and Franklin Sirmans, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Menil Collection. Great toy
My dog loves this. The squeaker did break with in 24 hours, but that is most likely because my dog is an aggressive chewer! she still loves it and plays with it even though it no longer squeaks. Not good for dogs who like to pull the stuffing out!

Gift for my little dog…..
My little Bichon loves this toy. It was for her birthday. She loves shaking it and throwing it up in the air! Amazingly, she has not tried to unstuff him yet as she usually does with other similar toys! I guess that proves she really loves it then! It is well made and I would recommend it.

The Squeaker gave out the first week
I got this for my playful chihuahua. The size is rather large for him, but that's really not an issue for him; he already thinks he's ferocious and big as a Rottweiler. The Squeaker worked at first, but it's not attached to anything on the inside, so it floats freely and is hard to locate and squeeze, without it slipping out of my grasp. After a week, the squeaker is now completely collapsed and doesn't work at all. Its a terrible design. The Squeaker should be easily accessible, firmly attached to something on the inside, and should be more durable.

Great toy
Color: Black/Orange
This brand really makes durable toys. They outlast every other toy my dogs have. One dog loves to get the squeaker out of any toy, but he doesn’t rip this one apart. Obviously it won’t last forever, but no toy does! Some other brands of toys only make it a day or two, while these last months to years.
