Marc Sinan's third ECM release is an evocative duo album with Oguz Büyükberber which subtly covers a lot of ground. The guitarist and the clarinettist have worked together in many contexts since first meeting in Istanbul a decade ago, and Büyükberber previously appeared on Hasretim: Journey to Anatolia, released in 2013, as well as in Sinan's music-theatre piece Komitas. The individual musical directions of the two players have effectively converged from opposite poles: Marc was trained as a classical guitarist in the western European tradition, but has increasingly been drawn to improvisation and Turkish material, while Oguz started out with Turkish music and jazz before exploring free improvisation and contemporary composition. For White, both musicians provide new music. Sinan's five-part "Upon Nothingness" incorporates his musical response to recordings of songs of Armenian prisoners deported to Germany during the First World War. These historic field recordings are woven into the fabric of Sinan's pieces, which also make liberal use of electronics, blurring the distinction between the real and the surreal. Oguz Büyükberber also contributes a series of linked pieces, "There, I-V", in which both musicians improvise around predetermined pitch sets. White was recorded in Oslo's Rainbow Studio in October 2016 and produced by Manfred Eicher.

Great lights, terrible assembly
Just got these and ran one night, lots to love about these: very high-quality and sturdy construction. Huge solar panel compared to every other solar light I've used or seen. Seems like high quality powder coated finish and everything fit together great (except see below). I would have given this 5 stars except for the facts that 1) the threading of the screw for the spike to stake assembly is total crap. The threads got messed up when they cut the parts and they didn't bother to recut the threads. It took me no less than about 15 minutes of frustration per light to get the damn things to thread together. Only 1 out of 9 lights easily thread together like you'd expect and 1 cross threaded and would not go together. For $80 a piece you'd expect perfection. 2) So. Many. Screws. Granted you get the benefit of a 3 part stake to adjust the height but it takes 6 screws to just assemble the thing. Need to change the battery? NINE, yes 9 screws to get at the battery. Also, the screws are soft and easy to strip so take great care not to over tighten. So I'd recommend the light based on the quality and performance, just prepare yourself for a frustrating assembly and battery change when the time comes.

Over two years and works great
I’m happy with the light, works great, easy to clean and wipe down, lasts thru most of the night.
It gets great sun in our coastal yard for 6-8 hours and when it’s cloudy it still works decently

Worth Every Penny
Color: Black 1-Pack
Outstanding quality. It does require some muscle to assemble and install. The corkscrew spike is big and goes into the ground more than a foot but that is great because it is securely anchored. Beautiful 2700K light that stays on all night at HIGH setting. Time will tell how it takes Florida weather.

Nice solar light

The Gama Sonic solar lights are the best, finally a solar light that stays on all night. I was tired buying the cheap solar lights and replacing them almost yearly and finally invested in the Gama Sonic lights. This is a quality built light I hope will last.
