Uncle Walt's Band has always been a hidden gem. One of those bands that, if you knew them, you loved them, but in their time, if you weren't at the right place at the right time, you didn't know about them at all. In their heyday, they were well known in their adopted home of Austin, but if you didn't get a copy of one of their albums from a band members' trunk after a gig, you didn't have anything to tide you over until their next show. An American In Texas returns nearly 40 years after it's initial release, this time on vinyl LP courtesy of Omnivore Records. Packaging contains photos and new liner notes from Austin writer Rush K Evans III, which trace the UWB story, and the reunion that resulted in this classic piece of Americana - from a time when no one had ever used the word. Treasure!! The best!!
I had been using Avene Compensating cream for years before it was reformulated and renamed as “Revitalizing” in (as I remember) 2020. At the time, every single comment I saw complained about its pilling and its getting worse after reformulation. Every single comment wished for the old formulation back. Because Avene Compensating was PERFECT for me, I got very anxious after reading the comments and decided not to purchase the new Revitalizing cream. I jumped around from products to products for the last 2 years (from expensive La Mer cream, Cle de peau La Creme, Lancome soft cream, Amorepacific Time Response to less expensive Clarins Hydra, Embryolisse). Nothing beat Avene Compensating cream. Nothing came close to Avene Compensating cream in terms of giving my easily irritated skin that clear, well moisturized, trouble-free, healthful look. Fast forward to the week of Thanksgiving 2022 after I got back from a Las Vegas trip with terribly dry and dehydrated reddish skin that nothing helped (and I always use sheet masks daily), I decided to give Avene Revitalizing a try. Worst case scenario, I would waste my $40 that I, very likely, would otherwise waste on another non Avene moisturizer. I’m so grateful I gave it a try. I don’t know if Avene listened to its loyal customers and brought the old formulation back, or if they improved the new formulation that pilled, but the Avene Revitalizing cream (I tried both rich and regular versions) did not pill at all for me and as far as I can still remember, Avene Compensating cream felt the same to me. After 2 nights of Avene Revitalizing, my skin is pretty much back to normal now. I think this is the old formulation but I can’t say for sure because it was more than 2 years ago when I last used the cream, but no matter what, if it keeps being what it is now, I will be a customer for life. Please Avene. Don’t change formulation again.
