Introducing the Ramming Bighorn Sheep pure gold coin, a contemporary wildlife portrait crafted in the distinctive Northwest Coast art style. This design draws on the ancient formline tradition, a visual language that has captivated art collectors and enthusiasts for thousands of years. Formline art provides today â„¢s artists with a strong foundation for creating powerful imagery, rooted in the wisdom and craftsmanship of the past. Inspired by the dramatic mountain battles of bighorn rams vying for dominance, this stunning coin was designed by renowned Kwakiutl artist Richard Hunt. The bold, expressive lines of the engraving come to life through multiple finishes and colors.

On the reverse side, Hunt's design showcases a shining sun surrounded by two pairs of engraved bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) one detailed with multiple finishes, the other enhanced with vibrant colors. A ring of triangular mountain peaks frames the battling rams, each adorned with symbolic crests: the eagle crest from Hunt â„¢s home village of Fort Rupert, B.C., on their backs, and the raven crest of his father on their hooves. The obverse features Susanna Blunt â„¢s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

An epic naval history decades in the making
Format: Hardcover
Excellent ending to Dr. Rodger's three book series "A Naval History of Britain", with the same level of detail and interesting presentation of facts I have come to expect from reading other of his works over the years. For anyone interested in a comprehensive naval history of Britain (from which the US Navy inherited much of its tradition), I would highly recommend this series. In addition, "The Wooden World: An Anatomy of the Georgian Navy" is also quite a good read. My (incomplete, sadly) collection of Dr. Rodger's works will continue to hold a special place on my naval history shelf for easy reference in the future. I also hope Dr. Rodger's health has improved. The shipper unfortunately did not pack this book well, resulting in minor damage (mostly cosmetic - book is still entirely readable).

Answers Many Questions about Naval Developments
Format: Hardcover
The history offers a detailed and well organized account of the Royal Navy as it transitioned from sail to steam. Coverage included personalities, technology, tactics and strategy. The combination provided a complete appreciation of the dynamics at play, some unexpectedly. The details might be a bit much for a casual reader but offered plenty of avenues for research not available or compiled in one source. I look forward to the final volume, which should describe another watershed era.

Great Book with a different perspective
Format: Hardcover
This will be a short review of a very long book. I ordered the book expecting more of a history of the British Navy, but this is more of a history of Britain with respect to its navy. It is still excellent and authoritative, just different than I expected. I really appreciate a somewhat different perspective than I have found in some other books. For example, any discussion of Jackie Fisher I have read previously seemed to border on the hagiographic, whereas here he seems to get a very evenhanded appraisal. A great book, highly recommended.
