Hollow Mesoporous Manganese Dioxide Nanoparticles are composed of an internal cavity structure and a surface pore size of 2-5nm. This unique structure endows them with high specific surface area and good biocompatibility. It is prepared by the hard template method. First, the silica nanoparticles with a specific size are synthesized by the sol gel method, and a manganese dioxide shell with a certain thickness is generated on its surface. Finally, the hollow manganese dioxide nanoparticles are obtained by etching the internal silicon dioxide with alkaline solution.

High specific surface area: Due to their hollow structure and large pore volume, hollow mesoporous manganese dioxide nanoparticles have a high specific surface area, which allows them to adsorb more drug molecules or catalysts.

Good biocompatibility: Hollow mesoporous manganese dioxide exhibits excellent biocompatibility in biomedical applications and is suitable for use in the in vivo environment.

Tumor microenvironment responsiveness: Under weakly acidic conditions, they can react with the metabolic product glutathione (GSH) of cancer cells, releasing Mn2+as a magnetic resonance contrast agent and catalyzing the decomposition of endogenous hydrogen peroxide (H ¡ãCO ¡ãC in tumors, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy (PDT).

Multifunctionality: In addition to serving as a drug carrier, it can also be used as a catalyst, adsorbent, and electrode material.

Application Fields

Biomedical field: as a drug carrier, used for precise delivery of anti-cancer drugs to tumor sites while reducing toxicity to normal tissues.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT): enhances the effect of PDT by decomposing endogenous hydrogen peroxide and providing oxygen to promote the action of photosensitizers.

Electrochemical catalysis: Hollow mesoporous manganese dioxide nanoparticles are widely used in electrochemical reactions due to their high specific surface area and excellent catalytic performance.

Adsorbents and catalysts: Due to their high specific surface area and good stability, they can be applied to various adsorption and catalytic processes.

Nanoenzyme: has CAT like activity, decomposes endogenous hydrogen peroxide under light exposure, and promotes photodynamic therapy.
