In the title of this book, You Can Be a Christian, the ‘‘you” is very emphatic, and it is warmly personal. I do mean you, and I mean it most sincerely, hoping that the reading, along with other influences, will persuade you to become a Christian. Perhaps because I am primarily a minister rather than an author, I wish I could talk to you instead of writing this booklet. I feel that if we could talk it over, you and I, you would be persuaded to follow the simple, but vital steps necessary to establish a new pattern for your life. Conversation, of course, is a two-way street, so I would benefit also from talking to you. Since this is impossible, I am, in this book, attempting to talk to you, and I truly hope and pray that from this sharing of ideas the way will be made clear so that you may live the Christian life all your days and at last find a home in heaven with Christ Jesus. In this spirit I have written these chapters. May you receive benefit from them, as I have already received in writing and talking to you, my readers.
