Shadow of the Almighty is one of the great missionary stories of modern times. This moving tale of faithfulness and obedience is the life and testament of Jim Elliot, as told by his widow. Drawing from Jim's diaries, along with her personal experience, author and evangelist Elisabeth Elliot tells the story of her husband's murder, along with four of his fellow missionaries, at the hands of Ecuador's Huaorani Indians. This tragedy was the inspiration for the 2005 film "End of the Spear."
Elliot, who later worked as a missionary with the very tribe that killed her husband, examines just what makes a person decide to commit his or her life to the service of God, knowing death could come at any moment. Shadow of the Almighty has fascinated readers for more than half a century, and continues to educate and inspire. Elisabeth Elliot Gren is a Christian author and evangelist. Her first husband, Jim Elliot, was killed in 1956 while attempting to make missionary contact with the Huaorani of eastern Ecuador. She later spent two years as a missionary to the tribe members who killed her husband. Returning to the United States after many years in South America, she became widely known as the author of more than twenty books, including These Strange Ashes, Through Gates of Splendor, Passion and Purity, and A Chance to Die: The Life and Legacy of Amy Carmichael. She lives in Massachusetts. "Elisabeth Elliot's account is more than inspirational reading; it belongs to the very heartbeat of evangelic witness."-Christianity TodayBinding Type: Paperback
