Named after James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan, the style was based on a garment worn by British officers in the 1800s and sometimes used as a substitute for a jacket. Since worn by seafarers, marines and many more notables.
Our version of this iconic piece is made without compromise - Knitted in a thick chunky wool rib, with leather acorn buttons down the front, patch pockets, a high shawl collar that can be flipped up, and a fold back cuff which can be adjusted so the sleeve is not too short.
A chunkier knit than most other versions you'll find. Ours has flat finish fully fashioned seams throughout.
