Ta-boo was opened in 1941 by Ted Stone shortly before the U.S. entered World War II. Stone owned the restaurant for 14 years before selling it to Jim Peterson in 1955. Peterson held on to Ta-boo until 1975, after which it underwent several ownership changes until Franklyn deMarco and Nancy Sharigan reopened the doors in October of 1990.

From the beginning, Ta-boo quickly became a haven for its wealthy and well-known patrons. Sporting an intimate bar and roll-away roof that allowed dining under the stars, the restaurant drew the likes of John F. Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, and other celebrities. Today you might see Rod Stewart, James Patterson or Hoda and Kathy Lee enjoying a casual meal.

The bistro became the center for a trove of tales and anecdotes, ranging from one about the German submarine commander who came ashore for a couple of drinks during World War II, to the claim that the Bloody Mary was concocted one morning by a bartender at Ta-boo, at the request of Barbara Hutton for a soothing drink after a night of partying.
Over the years, the restaurant has been a winner of a host of awards. Society tabloids and food and wine publications crowned Ta-boo for its understated elegance and influential gatherings. Ta-boo has been hailed as the best night spot in the country to “drink, laugh, and meet women.”

Ta-boo’s fame and following has grown over the years and has quicky become “a must” on every travelers list when visiting Palm Beach. It is said, “If you were not seen at Ta-boo, you were not seen in town.”

A Lovely Art Book for those Who Love Pixel Art from RPGs
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
Growing up playing NES & SNES games, I love pixel/sprite art. Featuring pixel art from Final Fantasy to Final Fantasy VI, this book has various types of pixel art including sprite sheets of different poses & walk cycles, backgrounds, monsters, and pixels of characters if they were done in 2018. There’s even pixel art from Final Fantasy VII to Final Fantasy XV. My ONLY complaint is that even though the book I got came in plastic wrap, somehow a couple of pages have creases. But since the creases are light, I’m gonna let that slide. All in all, this is a must have for those who love the Final Fantasy games from the NES and/or SNES era or those who love pixel art in general.

STELLAR
Format: Hardcover
Highest quality print. I ordered this book during the early part of the 2020 pandemic. When it arrived I was so happy. The images were comforting during a time of great stress in our world. It reminded me that Final Fantasy has been a tremendous part of my life. I'm grateful for the effort put into this book, which was in part a preview of the Pixel Remasters that came later. Brilliant.

Amazing book, but unnecessary
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
I would give this book 5 stars, but at the end of the day I don't think I can. I love flipping through it and looking at the color palettes and seeing the ways the artists communicated ideas through their limited palettes and spaces. There are also little 3D paper arts you can do of some of the sprites, like the fountain pictured above. It has helped me in my pixel art journey and it could 100% help you. The only reason I would say not to buy it is because all of the sprites are accessible online. If you want to understand the art on a deeper level and develop an appreciation for the passion that pixel art contains, buy it. If you want to look at them quickly as references and are an experienced pixel artist, it is not as useful, you could learn the rules just by looking at the sprites online, but you would miss the explanations and writings that help explain the art.
