A beautiful original French theatrical poster for Van Gogh, the acclaimed 1991 biographical drama directed by the legendary French filmmaker Maurice Pialat and starring Jacques Dutronc as Vincent van Gogh.
Unlike many traditional artist biopics, Van Gogh focuses on the final months of the painter’s life in Auvers-sur-Oise, offering a deeply human and intimate portrayal of one of history’s most celebrated artists. The film was widely praised for its authenticity, emotional depth, and remarkable visual beauty.
The poster itself is exceptionally decorative, featuring one of Van Gogh’s iconic landscapes reproduced across the entire composition. The soft blues, yellows, and greens immediately evoke the artist’s unmistakable brushwork and create a striking visual presence. Combined with the elegant typography, the result is both a movie poster and a tribute to one of the greatest painters in art history.
A wonderful piece for collectors of Van Gogh memorabilia, French cinema, art history, and museum-quality decorative posters. Equally at home in a contemporary interior, library, gallery, or collector’s space.
