The Lifespan of a FactHow negotiable is a fact? How negotiable is a fact? In 2003, after publishing his book of experimental essays, Halls of Fame, John D'Agata was approached by Harper's magazine to write an essay for them, one that was eventually rejected due to disagreements related to its fact checking. That essay which eventually became the foundation of D'Agata's critically acclaimed About a Mountain was accepted by another magazine, the Believer, but not before they handed it to their own fact-checker, Jim Fingal. What resulted from that assignment, and beyond the essay's eventual publication in the magazine, was seven years of arguments, negotiations, and revisions as D'Agata and Fingal struggled to navigate the boundaries of literary nonfiction.

This book includes an early draft of D'Agata's essay, along with D'Agata and Fingal's extensive discussion around the text. What emerges is a brilliant and eye-opening meditation on the relationship between "truth" and "accuracy" and a penetrating conversation about whether it is appropriate for a writer to substitute one for the other.

Not for someone that needs step by step instructions and pre-drilled holes
Nice cart that looks good once assembled. But be warned: there are NO predrilled holes for any of the screws. You will need to build each section of the frame that attaches to each wood panel FIRST, sit it on the wood and use a electric drill or driver to put the screws into the wood. Same goes for the wheel attachments - no holes drilled for these either. So if you are someone that can't even build a piece of IKEA furniture - this is NOT for you as this will require more skill and power tools.

Great Cart, Difficult Assembly
Material Type: Three Tiers Cart
This cart is beautiful and met our expectations. We read many reviews good and bad, so we knew what we were buying. The cart was packaged and delivered perfectly. It is very heavy so help may be needed. It took 4 hours to put together, there were no predrilled holes and some of the metal poles need to be adjusted slightly to fit correctly. The instructions were straightforward, drilling holes prior is very helpful. The wood was a darker brown and I actually liked the imperfections of the knots giving it character. Overall, I would buy this cart again. It is very pretty and will look amazing in our camp.

Not pleased- No holes predrilled in wood!
Love the look of it and should have been a good review BUT there were absolutely no holes drilled and a total of 64 screws to put in. So I have 2 slabs of solid wood and the pipes. I could have purchased and made it myself if it doesn’t even come with pre drilled holes in the wood. Have to get someone to drill all the holes for me and hope the can line them up properly before I can put together. Hope it works as returning this large and heavy of an item would be difficult. Very disappointed in what should have been a great item.
