Portland and Beirut rub shoulders again as Beacon Sound and Ruptured reveal their second co-release, the new album by Lebanese ensemble Kinematik entitled Murur al-Kiram. Kinematik hails from the mountain village of Reyfoun. Formed in the summer of 2014, they recorded their debut album Ala' in the spring of 2017 and released it on Ruptured (RPTD 017CD/LP). The band is known for the elaborate visual setup of it's live shows and has collaborated with a variety of different artists over the years in an effort to carefully craft each of it's performances. Kinematik has toured extensively in Lebanon and Europe, re-scored Carl Theodor Dreyer's 1930's classic film Vampyr for the the 23rd European Film Festival in Beirut, and contributed soundtrack pieces for Lebanese filmmakers Ghassan Salhab's Une Rose Ouverte (2019) and Sarah Kaskas' Underdown. Murur al-Kiram uses electronics, intricate double-drumming, guitar, and bass to construct ambient soundscapes and hypnotic, propulsive rhythms - conjuring the ghosts of a diminishing future as well as an unresolved past. Subtle in both angst and joy, the album celebrates small victories in the face of great defeats, echoing the band's conflicted mindset towards life in their country and community. The record was recorded over a period of two months, and features Teddy Tawil joining the band as second drummer. Whereas Ala' saw Kinematik's four core musicians confining themselves to one instrument and/or role within the overall sonic construct of the band, these new compositions see each musician playing and equally at ease with several instruments, adding intensity, cohesiveness, and a sense of fluidity to the proceedings. The intent was to make a record that would sound like a single traveling shot, beginning with the musicians' childhood in their hometown, through their adult lives weighted down by the corruption and theft endemic to the Lebanese political system, until they are buried back in their place of birth. The salutary presence of Sary (newborn son of synth player Rudy Ghafari) that became the "raison d'être" of the record. Murur al-Kiram is the story of an important chapter in the band's history, one marked by uncertainty and hesitation, yet solid and vibrant in spite of the latter. With the recent mass protests against dire, still unresolved social conditions, a vision of a democratic and post-sectarian Lebanon has come into view. Pretty awesome chew toy

This toy is great!! I have a doodle that shreds everything in sight, including durable toys, but this one stood up to the Teddy test! He easily ripped off the ear/feet bits, but the fabric casing hasn’t come off after a week of play, and I expect the rubber toy inside will be even harder to break.
This is a fairly heavy toy, so it makes a thunk when it drops and is probably not suitable for small dogs. It has a light squeak that is quiet and infrequent enough to not annoy me, and it’s pretty cute too!! it does get soaked in drool pretty fast (and takes forever to dry), but at this point i’m grateful it lasts long enough to get drooled on at all.

smaller than i expected but had a strong interior that i was pleasantly surprised with. my lil lady very much enjoyed it, however it lasted less than 24 hours before the poor toy was skinned alive :( she loves plushies and she’s obsessed w his skin after tearing him apart. it does have a solid rubber interior that is still good as a toy, however i was hoping its skin would stay on longer than a day :( overall decent toy, 3 stars for being destroyed so quickly. wouldn’t recommend for strong chewers

Dachshund said “did I hear indestructible‽ Hold my ball”

My 15lb Dachshund took this toy as a personal challenge.
He heard me tell his human brother that it’s indestructible on the inside and said “hold my ball” promptly proceeding to schmurder the textile aspect of this adorable toy.
I’d say it took him a total of 23 1/2 minutes to get to the center of this tootsie pop. I’m not even mad tho bc he had no interest in actually ingesting the outer part, and is totally into the inner toy, which is, for him, literally indestructible. It’s solid rubber, has a wild and fun bounce to it on multiple surfaces.
Zodiac rates the squeak 10/10. It’s great especially for when I’m on a call or talking to someone in real life and can’t immediately throw said toy or pay complete attention to him.
In conclusion:
Your dog will probably love it, ((suggest to just keep an eye on them during the schmurder process and make sure you grab all the pieces that come off so none are swallowed))
Depending on your tolerance for squeaker pitch and frequency of squeak, it's a 4/10 in annoyance mostly bc it’s not a long drawn out squeak ((I can not tolerate those toys, they get “lost on top on my fridge” until I get up the courage to throw them out without him seeing)), it’s quick and requires a bit of effort to produce the sound however it’s a very high pitch squeak so it’s all up to your preference. I personally try to buy toys I can tolerate my dog loving on bc when he gets a new toy, it’s his favorite thing for a long time, like, it sleeps on the bed with us for the first month.
Hope your fur child loves this as much as mine did.
Not sure I’ll do the whole two in one toy thing again only he got through it so fast.

LOVE BARK TOYS!!!

I got this toy for my 1yr old Husky/Heeler/(possibly)GSD (approx 42lbs) mix when she came to our home mid/late October of 2025 and the toy lasted until December 3rd 2025 when we had to assist her with opening the fabric to get the toy on the inside.
It was a great fun toy for her and the inside toys still is and she loves playing with it. The durability of both the outside and inside toys are great for super chewers! I was glad there was no stuffing because I had gotten her a plush toy once before and she destroyed that immediately. The fabric on this was durable enough to withstand her chewing yet soft enough that it didn’t hurt her teeth. The colors were vibrant and fun for both toys even though wear and tear kinda took some of the fabric color away. I would definitely buy this again once the inside toy is no longer safe for her, especially since the size was perfect for her too.
