Allowed to Grow Old: Portraits of Elderly Animals from Farm SanctuariesThere's nothing quite like a relationship with an aged pet a dog or cat who has been at our side for years, forming an ineffable bond. Pampered pets, however, are a rarity among animals who have been domesticated. Farm animals, for example, are usually slaughtered before their first birthday. We never stop to think about it, but the typical images we see of cows, chickens, pigs, and the like are of young animals. What would we see if they were allowed
There's nothing quite like a relationship with an aged pet--a dog or cat who has been at our side for years, forming an ineffable bond. Pampered pets, however, are a rarity among animals who have been domesticated. Farm animals, for example, are usually slaughtered before their first birthday. We never stop to think about it, but the typical images we see of cows, chickens, pigs, and the like are of young animals. What would we see if they were allowed to grow old? Isa Leshko shows us, brilliantly, with this collection of portraits. To create these portraits, she spent hours with her subjects, gaining their trust and putting them at ease. The resulting images reveal the unique personality of each animal. It's impossible to look away from the animals in these images as they unforgettably meet our gaze, simultaneously calm and challenging. In these photographs we see the cumulative effects of the hardships of industrialized farm life, but also the healing that time can bring, and the dignity that can emerge when farm animals are allowed to age on their own terms. Each portrait is accompanied by a brief biographical note about its subject, and the book is rounded out with essays that explore the history of animal photography, the place of beauty in activist art, and much more. You'll never forget them.Binding Type: Hardcover

They hang easy!
Color: C. Rustic Brown Board & Black Brackets, Number Of Shelves: 4, Size: 23-inch, Color: C. Rustic Brown Board & Black Brackets, Number Of Shelves: 4, Size: 23-inch
I got my shelves well packaged. No defects. I did find it odd that the photos show a third way of hanging them where the brackets are hidden, but it's the only two top shown in the product photo of the hanging options that are shown on the instructions. It's easy enough anyway to hang without any instructions and I chose the second one shown anyway. They're good quality and look nice on my wall. Color is accurate and holds all my stuff the way I'd hoped/imagined. I wanted shelves that didn't stick out too far from the wall and they're a great fit. Super sturdy!

Great product!
Color: G. Black Board & Gold Brackets, Number Of Shelves: 3, Size: 16-inch Mixed, Color: G. Black Board & Gold Brackets, Number Of Shelves: 3, Size: 16-inch Mixed
The feeling of the shelf itself is a little off but it was super easy to put together and looks great! It comes with a mounting guide but I didn’t need it. I didn’t use to wall anchors and just screwed them into the wall and they haven’t been a problem at all!

Avoid the GOLD brackets. The finish is NOT accurate.
Color: G. Black Board & Gold Brackets, Number Of Shelves: 4, Size: 16-inch, Color: G. Black Board & Gold Brackets, Number Of Shelves: 4, Size: 16-inch
I bought the BLACK/GOLD shelves because the ones in the photo seemed to match the drawer pull knobs I bought (shown in photo below). The product arrived neatly packed in a 17x6x4in. box. I can only assume the shelves themselves are great, but I only made it as far as inspecting the metal brackets sitting at the top, they feel heavy duty, which is great, but the product's photo posted in Amazon shows a nice gold finish, and these brackets have a dark mustard paint finish (with a couple blueish speckles sprinkled into it), there's nothing gold/metallic about it. The paint color reminded me of long-gone diaper-changing days. These are getting returned asap.

Great shelves at an even better price
Color: Brown, Size: 15.7in, Color: Brown, Size: 15.7in
These shelves are great quality. Easy to hang and come with all the hardware you need. No matter what type of wall you are hanging them on. Saved me a bunch of space. Gave me a place to place some of my books without having to take up floor space with a bookshelf. Light weight material with a durable quality. Stable for lots of things. Fits my space needs
