In her first published book of self-referential comics, Ratna Pappert interweaves fairy-tale and mythical imagery with her own cast of characters to explore issues of relationship, of self-worth, the challenges of parenting an inner child who only speaks in four-letter words, of finding one's way through creative inertia, and the perennial question facing any working (or not-working) artist: "Do I really have anything to say?"
Combining an insatiable curiosity to understand herself as a creative person; a wry, whimsical use of visual metaphor and a small army of word-balloons, her observations become ever more universal as they explore a search for balance between authentic personal expression and a hunger to be recognized and acknowledged by a larger world.
What starts out as a personal search for validation emerges as a love-letter to a world of creative human beings who each have Something to Say.
