The Blackmagic Design Spares - Camera CC - SSD Door is the replacement drive bay hatch for the original Blackmagic Cinema Camera (EF/MFT) and the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K. These legacy cameras are famously built like "tanks" out of a single block of aluminum, but the moving parts—like the SSD door—are the most susceptible to wear and tear.

This door protects the 2.5-inch SATA SSD slot located on the right side (operator side) of the camera.

Core Functions

  • Media Security: Ensures the SSD remains physically seated against the internal SATA pins during high-vibration shooting (handheld, vehicle mounts).

  • Dust & Debris Shield: Prevents dust and grit from entering the internal SATA connector, which can cause data corruption or "Disk Not Found" errors.

  • Ergonomics: Provides a flush surface for the palm of the hand when operating the camera without a cage.

When to Replace the SSD Door

  • Snapped Hinge: The most common failure. If the door is left open and the camera is bumped or placed in a bag, the small aluminum hinge tabs can snap.

  • Latch Failure: The magnetic or spring-loaded latching mechanism fails, causing the door to flop open during takes.

  • Lost Door: Because the hinge pin can sometimes slide out if the retaining screw is loose, the entire door can go missing on location.

  • Warped Metal: If the camera took a direct hit to the side, a bent door may prevent SSDs from being inserted or removed easily.

Technical Installation Note

Repair Level: 1 (Easy). Replacing this door is a simple mechanical task.

  1. Hinge Pin Access: Look for a tiny set screw or a friction-fit pin at the hinge point on the camera body. You will likely need a 1.5mm or 2.0mm Hex key (Allen wrench) or a precision jeweler’s screwdriver.

  2. Spring Alignment: Some versions of the original Cinema Camera use a small tension spring to keep the door shut or help it pop open. Ensure this spring is "hooked" into the notch on the door before sliding the pin through.

  3. Magnetic Latch: If your door won't stay shut, check if the small magnet on the camera body or the metal strike plate on the door has fallen out. You can often glue these back in with a tiny drop of CA glue (Super Glue) rather than replacing the whole door.

  4. SATA Clearance: After installing the new door, insert an SSD to ensure the door closes completely without hitting the drive. If it doesn't close, the hinge pin may not be seated fully.

Comparison: Legacy CC vs. Pocket

It is important to note that this part is only for the original "Cinema Camera" (the large 2.5-inch SSD model).

  • This Part: Heavy aluminum, fits 2.5" SATA SSDs.

  • Pocket 4K/6K: These cameras use a Battery Door or Media Door (for SD/CFast cards), which is made of plastic and is not compatible with the original Cinema Camera.

Expert Advice: If your camera is "dropping frames" or "missing disks," check the internal SATA pins while the door is off. If the pins are bent, a new door won't help—you would likely need to service the internal SATA Bridge PCB.

Is your door physically broken at the hinge, or is it just failing to stay latched?

Looks nice, easy to install
Color: Rustic Brown, Number Of Shelves: 2, Size: 22in
This shelf is lightweight, looks nice, and was easy to install. It comes with a little level to help you install it properly. There are plenty of mounting holes to choose from, so it is easy to screw it directly into a stud, or to just use holes that are convenient for you. It comes with a plethora of mounting hardware. I mounted mine a bit high up and chose to mount it upside down so that I wouldn't see the three screws that hold the shelf to the mounting bracket.

Cheap, looks good and works good
Size: 13"-32", Style: Dual Arms
Mostly painless install, packaging was subpar but everything works well. Holds a 27" monitor and a 24" monitor very well. Adjustable angles and hinges allowing for customization for your needs. Seems to be very sturdy and hasn't dropped since making sure everything is tight. Overall, worth it compared to more expensive options.

Solid Mount for a Large Monitor
Size: 17"-49", Style: Single Arm
Picked this up to mount a single 37" monitor to my adjustable desk and it’s been working great. The arm feels sturdy and holds the weight of the monitor without sagging or drifting over time. Installation was pretty straightforward and it gave me a lot more desk space compared to using the factory stand. It also moves smoothly when adjusting the monitor position or changing desk height. If you’re running a larger display on a standing desk setup, this is a solid option that feels much more substantial than some of the cheaper monitor arms out there.

Solid Budget Monitor Arm With a Few Trade‑Offs
Size: 13"-34", Style: Single Arm
The WALI Single Monitor Mount performs about the same as my VIVO single monitor arm, which was a pleasant surprise given the lower price point. Setup was straightforward, and the gas spring adjustment works well once dialed in. It holds my monitor securely and offers the full range of motion I expected—tilt, swivel, rotation, and height adjustments all function smoothly. That said, the materials and overall build quality do feel a bit cheaper compared to higher‑end arms. It’s not flimsy, but you can tell where costs were saved. If you’re willing to spend roughly 60–70% more, you can definitely get a noticeably sturdier and more refined arm. Still, for a budget option, this one delivers exactly what it promises. Pros - Works just as well as the VIVO arm in terms of functionality - Easy to install with both clamp and grommet options - Gas spring provides good adjustability once set - Excellent value for an entry‑level monitor arm Cons - Materials feel cheaper than premium alternatives - Build quality isn’t as high as more expensive arms Overall As an introductory monitor arm, this is an excellent choice. It does everything the VIVO arm can, just with slightly lower‑end materials. If you’re on a budget or setting up a simple workstation, it’s a great fit. If you want something more robust for long‑term heavy use, spending a bit more will get you a significantly more refined Monitor arm.
