VINCENT’S FLOWERS
The Van Gogh Museum combined the flowers from seven iconic Van Gogh works to create this tribute to the artist. The artist’s love for nature is visible in all the flowers he painted. Van Gogh wrote in one of his letters: ‘I believe that at present we must paint nature’s rich and magnificent aspects; we need good cheer and happiness, hope and love.’ (Vincent van Gogh to his sister Willemien, Arles, September 1888). For this wallet we focussed on the sunflowers which had a special meaning for Van Gogh: they communicate ‘gratitude’, according to him.
