Since I was ten, I wanted to be a writer. I got my first story published in the college literary magazine when I was the editor, which was, I figured, the only way I could get an editor to accept one of my pieces.
I have since been published in books, anthologies, magazines and other places, and for the most part, my pay was one free copy of the publication.
For a short period of time, I was published in the St. Petersburg Times, now called the Tampa Bay Times. I have these five pieces here, five pieces for which I was paid $200 apiece, so for a short while I could consider myself a professional writer, though I still could not quit my day job.
Though these pieces were not astounding or earth shaking, they were god enough.
