What would inspire a proper young British woman, well-educated and devoted to the Church of England, to venture forth from a sheltered academic life of the early 20th century to cross an ocean in order to conduct investigations on a people that she considered "uncivilized?" To answer this question, the author collected Barbara Freire-Marreco Aitken's correspondence, most of which has never been published, and with editing, annotating, and researched explanations completed the gestalt resulting in a biography that is a cohesive and interesting adventure story. This remarkable second generation British anthropologist lived with Native American pueblo people and visited reservations in the Southwest United States, contributing to the knowledge about and understanding of these people. The dearth of exposure of her experiences makes this a long overdue compilation of her life and work. Even those with little interest in her focus of anthropology and ethnology will find this life story interesting because of the period of time in which she lived, especially because she was a British woman in territory that only recently had become part of the United States. An avid interest in the art and culture of the American Indian has been of importance to Mary Ellen Blair since her early years. A graduate of Rutgers University in Art History, where she served as president of Kappa Pi Honorary Art Fraternity, her focus turned more and more to the western regions of the United States, particularly the pueblos of the Southwest and their pottery. A forced, but fortunate, move eventually brought her to New Mexico where she continued to add to her collection as well as serving as a participant and judge at various Southwest Indian art shows. She and her husband, Laurence Blair, have written books on Pueblo pottery and this in turn led her to discover and investigate the life of a remarkable British anthropologist. After more than ten years devoted to research in museums, universities, and personal interviews in both the United States and Great Britain, this biography is the result.Binding Type: Paperback

Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion
Size: 32 Ounce (Pack of 1), Size: 32 Ounce (Pack of 1)
As someone who typically shies away from using lotion due to its heavy and greasy feel, I was initially hesitant to try the Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion. However, after ordering a large bottle for both my husband and me, I can confidently say that I am pleasantly surprised by how much I love it. One of the first things that struck me about this lotion is its delightful scent. With every application, I feel like I've been transported to a serene beach setting, enveloped in the comforting aroma of cocoa butter. It adds a touch of luxury to my skincare routine and leaves me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. What truly sets this lotion apart for me is its lightweight texture. Unlike other lotions I've tried in the past, this one absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving behind any greasy residue. I appreciate how effortlessly it spreads and how it doesn't weigh down my skin, allowing me to go about my day comfortably. Additionally, I've noticed that the Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion provides ample hydration without feeling heavy or cloying. It leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth, and moisturized, without the need for constant reapplication throughout the day.
I would highly recommend this lotion, especially for those with mature skin. Its lightweight, non-greasy formula makes it a joy to use, and the beach-like scent adds a delightful touch to the skincare experience. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with the Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion and plan to continue incorporating it into my daily routine.

A lotion that you remember since childhood
Size: 16 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Wow! Queen Helene Cocoa Butter. What can I say about this timeless classic lotion.
Well first off, if you were growing up on the free school lunch program or had almost no money in your household while living off other government subsidies, Queen Helene Cocoa Butter was on your shelf somewhere in your home because of its price. I mean it was a budget bottled lotion product that we all poked fun at when you were broke.
BUT, it actually does the job. Yeah it really does. For what it has to offer, it works well and has a scent that will remind you of your past growing up just like when you use to apply Ben-Gay on to you. There's a reason this product almost has a 5 out of 5 stars review on Amazon. Because it's a no frills, straight forward lotion that does help moisturize your skin that last for the whole day/night with a pleasant fragrance. You do have to put multiple applications onto you, but it does work and has the same excellent results you would expect from the bigger name products available on the market.
We can all have a good laugh about Queen Helene Cocoa Butter on what it represented for those with little money. However, it always did the job on protecting and softening your skin without spending so much money on more expensive lotions.
I'll always have a bottle in my house as long as I live because it WORKS!!!

Light and Effective
Size: 32 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I don't like lotion. Specifically, I don't like putting it on my hands. But my skin said, "tough." Literally. So, I had to suck it up and find a solution to the dry, rough skin I was developing. I looked through a lot of products and decided to try this. I'm glad I did--I love it!
It doesn't feel greasy.
My skin soaks it all up, even on my hands (I just have to distract myself for a couple minutes after I've rubbed it all in so it can finish soaking in).
It smells good! (It's not a strong scent and doesn't cause a headache for me or my scent-sensitive spouse).
There's a ton of it, and a little goes a long way. It's cost effective.
So, it ticks all my boxes. I can afford it, it's effective, the smell is good, and I don't get the overwhelming urge to wash it off! Win!
