The EVP Upgraded Racing Intercooler for the 2024+ Can-Am Maverick R is a high-performance cooling solution that utilizes Formula 1-derived technology to manage intake temperatures. Unlike traditional heavy-duty intercoolers, this unit focuses on a high-efficiency, lightweight design to ensure your Rotax engine maintains peak power without adding unnecessary bulk to the chassis.
By moving to a specialized tube-and-fin architecture, EVP has created an intercooler that is roughly 30% lighter than standard bar-and-plate alternatives while offering superior thermal recovery.
Advanced Cooling Technology
-
68mm High-Flow Core: The massive 68mm core thickness provides a significant increase in surface area for heat exchange, allowing for lower Intake Air Temperatures (IATs) even under high boost and extreme ambient heat.
-
Hemmed R-Fin Design: Instead of standard V-shaped fins, this core utilizes hemmed "R-fins." These fins feature a radiused contact point with the cooling tubes, which increases the physical contact area for better heat transfer and provides a more durable structure that resists folding or damage from vibration.
-
Rapid Thermal Recovery: The lightweight tube-and-fin construction allows the intercooler to "shed" heat much faster than heavier cores, which is critical for maintaining performance during repetitive pulls or long desert races.
Performance & Build Quality
-
Lightweight Advantage: Being 30% lighter than bar-and-plate designs, this intercooler helps maintain a lower center of gravity and reduces the load on your mounting hardware and chassis.
-
Handmade in the USA: Every unit is professionally TIG-welded and assembled by hand in the United States to ensure race-grade quality and perfect fitment.
-
Optimized Airflow: The internal tube design is engineered to minimize pressure drop, ensuring that the boost generated by your turbo reaches the engine with maximum density and minimal restriction.
Kit Specifications
| Feature | EVP Racing Intercooler | Standard Bar-and-Plate |
| Core Style | Tube-and-Fin (F1 Tech) | Bar-and-Plate |
| Weight | ~30% Lighter | Heavy / Dense |
| Core Thickness | 68mm | Varies (Often thinner) |
| Fin Style | Hemmed R-Fin (Durable) | Standard V-Fin |
| Cooling Efficiency | High / Rapid Recovery | High / High Heat Soak |
Technical Note: This intercooler is a direct-fit upgrade and includes all necessary hardware for installation. It is highly recommended for any Maverick R running an ECU power flash, larger fuel injectors, or an upgraded turbo system where managing heat is the primary factor in preventing power loss (heat soak).
Pro Tip: Because this intercooler is so efficient at rejecting heat, you may notice more consistent power levels during the final miles of a long ride compared to the stock unit, which tends to lose efficiency as it warms up over time.
