The 1980s witnessed a lemming-like rush into the sea of debt on the part of the American industrial and financial communities, with consequences we are only beginning to appreciate. But the speculative frenzy of the eighties didn't just happen. It was the culmination of a long cycle of slow relaxation of credit practices--the subject of James Grant's brilliant, clear-eyed history of American finance. Two long-running trends converged in the 1980s to create one of our greatest speculative booms: the democratization of credit and the socialization of risk. At the turn of the century, it was almost impossible for the average working person to get a loan. In the 1980s, it was almost impossible to refuse one. As the pace of lending grew, the government undertook to bear more and more of the creditors' risk--a pattern, begun in the Progressive era, which reached full flower in the "conservative" administration of Ronald Reagan. Based on original scholarship as well as firsthand observation, Grant's book puts our recent love affair with debt in an entirely fresh, often chilling, perspective. The result is required--and wickedly entertaining--reading for everyone who wants or needs to understand how the world really works.
"A brilliantly eccentric, kaleidoscopic tour of our credit lunacy. . . . A splendid, tooth-gnashing saga that should be savored for its ghoulish humor and passionately debated for its iconoclastic analysis. It is a fitting epitaph to the credit binge of the '80s."--Ron Chernow, The Wall Street Journal.

Great quality
Size: Large, Color: Black Pullover
It’s so soft and comfortable. I wash it a lot and it has held up well so far, I just wish it had pockets but other than. That it’s perfect for work.

Comfortable Everyday Hoodie
Size: Large, Color: Black Pullover
This hoodie is a great basic to have on hand. The fleece material is soft and comfortable, and it provides just the right amount of warmth for cooler mornings and evenings. The fit was true to size, and it held up well after washing without losing its shape. My husband likes wearing it for everyday errands, walks, and casual outings. It's comfortable, lightweight enough to layer, and easy to throw on when you need an extra layer. A solid, affordable hoodie for everyday wear.

solid basic hoodie - but please don't sew the draw string in Fruit of the Loom!!
Size: XX-Large, Color: Black Pullover
I love these hoodies and actually have a few of them in my wardrobe - I would give them a 5-star as they're very comfortable, hold-up well to wear and tear, and they're pretty warm... They don't shrink or bleed dye in the wash, great stuff. HOWEVER! They recently started sewing the drawstring in, which is really annoying... I wear the XXL size and the hood is still a bit small for my dome, so I typically don't need the drawstring, but now I can't remove it without trying to remove the stitching and damaging the hood or cutting the ends off, leaving most of them inside the hood - meaning you can't replace the drawstring should you want to (which sometimes I do, like if I'm skiing or what not)... I also work with power tools, which make loose ends like drawstrings outright dangerous, so I really need to be able to remove them easily - I would give these hoodies a 5-star if they stopped sewing the drawstring in

Good value
Size: 10.5, Color: Black/Black
They fit and they stay on my feet (I was worried because these are slip-ons).

Comfortable lightweight sneakers for casual everyday wear
Size: 9.5, Color: Navy
These sneakers feel like a decent value for the price. They are very lightweight, which makes them comfortable and easy to wear throughout the day, though that also means they feel a bit less substantial than more supportive athletic shoes. I have mainly been using them with business casual office outfits, and they work perfectly well for that kind of light-duty everyday wear. I would not personally use them for anything especially active since they do not offer a ton of support, but for casual use they have been great. I also like how easy they are to slip on and off. I typically wear a size 9.5, and these fit true to size for me.
